Hello Camino Friends!
I fly out on Tuesday, and I think I have it all just about settled.
I'm just a hair under 20 pounds (9kg). I weight 200 pounds (90.7kg), so I meet the 10% recommendation. However, I am still wanting to lighten my load. Any sugestions?
Also, these are the things in my...
Hello Camino Friends. I fly out on the 12 of June to start the walk. I want to send a series of post cards to my 4 year old nephew as I traverse CF. I'm not concerned about buying postcards, but what is the easiest way to get stamps and post them back to the
US? Should I hit up a post office...
I can't see to find the post from a few months (or maybe years back) about what to give your friends or family if they want to mail you a letter while on the Camino and pick it up from one of the post offices?
Does anyone know how to do this?
Are there any microbreweries that are easily accessible from the French way?
I know Spain is about wine, but I do know of one micro brewery in Logroño, but other than that I'm lost.
Anyone know?
I purchased my plane tickets tonight for my second walk/pilgrimage. I hope to start walking from SJPdP around the 15th of June. Here is to meeting new friends and hopefully I'll actually walk the Meseta this go around.
Peace y'all!
Buen Camino!
Ran across these Lightload Towels on Amazon and I am intrigued by them. Has anyone used them?
I typically use an Original Packtowl that I like. But These intrigue me becuase of the price.
Trying to decide to check my bag with Poles or just carry on and grab some Poles when I get to Europe.
My Poles are some decent carbon fiber.
I understand it will cost about $25 usd to check my bags in each directions. Can I get a pair of aluminum Poles SJPdP in the $50 range?
DIY "liquid" travel containers. If you travel with a bit of conditioner or other liquid this might be useful. I am going to try this and take my stuff to the gym and see how it works.
Also if you don't want to DIY I found these on Amazon
Enjoy!
Hey Camino Friends!,
I'm planning to walk in June/July of this year. I know it will be hot, and I already own a couple of pairs of shorts that would be perfect for the Camino, but keep seeing people talking about the zip convertible pants. My first camino (same time of year) I had a pair...
I know I don't need a guide, but call me old fashion from my backpacking days.
I carried the Brierley guide on my first Camino and used it till it . I saw that Ivar produced the Wise Pilgrim guides and I was wondering if anyone has experience with it and has compared the two.
What are the...
Odd Question about a plastic bag I got at the pilgrims' office in SJPdP. They gave me a plastic ziploc bag at the start of the Camino in SJPdP, and I was able to fit not only pilgrim's passport, but also my guide book and the other paper work they gave me. I no longer have the bag (I waled 2...
UPDATE: I am not asking for suggestions or recommendations. I am sharing info that I found and collected that others might find helpful.
Since socks and shoes are a huge decision for many on the Camino I have emailed many sock companies asking what sock they would recommend for walking the...
I keep being told the section after Astorga should not be walked alone.
The people I have been waning with ended their Camino in Burgos or bussed ahead to another town past Astorga.
I'm over at San Javier, Albergue the one near the cathedral, I'll probably start walking around 6:30 or 7 am...
Hey everyone,
I'll be walking in June, and I keep hearing about bed bug and bed bug sheets. What size are the beds (or what size sheet should I bring?) in the albergues? Can I get by with self treating a twin/single fitted sheet with permethrin?
Thanks,
PC
Seeing the suggestion size ranging from 30-50L, I have my old, very comfortable Kelty Redcloud 5600 backpack from my days of hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Doing the math, it can hold as much as 90L. I know that is at least 2 to 3 times the recommended size. I know I don't need a bag of...
