Thanks for the info, old building fascinate me. Here in Canada we think a 100 years old building is old. I'm debating between going back to walk from Leon to Santiago or do the Camino Portuguese, both are attractive to me.

    Time for change

That is a whole lot of people. Personally I would go back to the Albergue/refugio/hotel have a cold adult beverage or a siesta and wait for the evening. Having said that is also neat to be there and feel the excitement around you, all those people enjoying just being there soaking up the...

Beware da Brasa Restaurant Albergaria a Velha

This could be a simple misunderstanding, which as we all know, is easy for it to happen when we are not speaking the same language (or even when we do). Not sure there is a need to boycott this place for that reason. Now, if the wine poor, them forget the place. :-) Chris

    Burst my camino bubble.

when I went on the Camino I had no expectation, I was not looking for some type of revelation or miracle. The Camino is just a place, amazing and beautiful, but just a place. Having said that, I find incredibly convenient to go on a trail that has a great infrastructure in place to make it easy...

    October 2017 Camino

I also like to have a reservation for the first night, however, last September did not work out for me. My back pack did not arrive with me to Paris (from Canada), where I was not planning to stay. So after two day it did arrive so I could continue my trip. By the time I arrive to St. Jean I...

I was there last September and found it nice and so close to everything. It was during the "small St. Fermines" so there were people everywhere. The party was still going on when I left at 7:30am.

LIVE from the Camino Debit card trouble at Barajas

Oh well, life in the big city... Is good to know what the problem was/is. Hope you are able to come back and finish your Camino. In my case I took money from home in cash, a debit card and two credit cards which I ended up no needing but was good to know I had them just in case. All the best...

LIVE from the Camino Debit card trouble at Barajas

I know that the amount of digits in the security pin makes a difference as well, Spain works with a four digest pin numbers and some other banking institutions and countries use six. If not too late, you may want to go into a bank and ask if there is a way to work this out. Spain is a country...

LIVE from the Camino The Weather- Unpredictable & no memory!

David, I can guaranty that if the old Pilgrims had a way to communicate with their families and friends back home they would have while in the Camino. I totally respect those that want to be incommunicado doing the Camino "The old way" which is commendable but in no way makes that person's...

LIVE from the Camino The Weather- Unpredictable & no memory!

Valcarlos is a very nice route, is really not a second choice or plan B. Lots of people prefer to go that way, including me as i think it has its own beauty and character as well as historical significance. Whichever way you go Buen Camino.
