Hi,
I cannot really say how easy this will be to do (but I don't think it would be too hard either) but I would actually like to give a hotel tip. A few years ago we were on a holiday in Asturias and went to Posada del Valle in Arriondas. I cannot recommend this place enough! It is run by a...
Hi!
Thanks so much for your input. This forum really is fantastic!
As it happens, the decision was kind of made by the circumstances. There seemed to be no bed left in cadavedo tonight, I spent an hour frantically calling around to accommodation in Luarca but that also didn't leave me with any...
Yes, but at the same time I also find it slightly silly because 1) I have to be in Santiago anyway, I have a train booked from there and 2) I will probably only have two or three days too little (if that's how you say it). I really don't know!
Right now I feel very pressured though...
Hello,
I am on the Norte right now, actually sitting in the albergue in Soto de Luiña. I still have ten walking days left. I will not make it to Santiago "on time", I really don't like walking more than 30 km a day, ideally I walk around 20-26.
If I would skip some etapas, which are the "best"...
Yep, the plan is to go to the albergue in Bilbao when I arrive (I still have some practical stuff to sort out in Bilbao, getting a Spanish sim card, credencial etc), and maybe take the metro to Portugalete in the morning or walk there anyway (it's not far so might be a good warmup). I'm sure...
PS: Sorry for all the questions, usually I'm quite capable of working things out for myself and pretty streetwise, but I'm very nervous about this whole undertaking! I've no idea what it's really going to be like (and so scared to get lost etc.) I seem to need a lot of answers to put my mind at...
As usual quite a late answer (I was in Berlin for the week) but thanks to the both of you for weighing in. I've finally decided to start walking from Portugalete, I think starting from San Sebastian with my lack of preparation would be a bit too much, plus I'd probably be quite stressed out...
Hi!
I've booked all my flights. I'll arrive in Bilbao on the 3rd of July, start walking on the 4th. My flight back from Santiago de Compostela is on the 2nd of August (arriving the 1st of August). This gives me 29 walking days.
I'm wondering whether to start from Bilbao or from San Sebastian...
Hi! Haven't checked this thread in a while, but I just went out to buy my shoes and socks! They feel like heaven right now, wonder what it's going to be like after a few hundred kms!
I'm STILL not sure whether to do Frances or del Norte. The crowds on Frances are REALLY putting me off tbh...
Again, thank you for your replies! And Kielty, I know the feeling! :-)
I've read all of your answers with much interest. Armed with the advice of knowledgeable people I feel much more able to take this on. ;-)
Am leaning towards the Frances again, I guess I'm not going to be able to decide until...
Thank you all so much for your replies!
You've really calmed my nerves and given me the confidence to just go and do it! I think I'm going to buy some shoes tomorrow, once I have them I'll be practically obligated to go! ;)
With regards to guidebooks, how necessary are they? Which one is the...
Hi everyone!
I was thinking about walking the Camino del Norte in July.
However... I just started playing with this idea a few days ago. It's been a dream of mine for years but I've forgotten it for a while, I didn't have money/time etc...
My workplace is closing down end of June. I have no...
