Gerard, please take a friend with you to Aldi's on Saturday, whose sole task is to video your shopping expedition, for our edification - well, entertainment....
The thing I found with Aldi clothes is their fit/sizes can be, ah, unexpected.... and some features can be truly weird (e.g. I got a hiking jacket with overly sleeves.)
My advice is.... buy the size you think will fit, head home (or the shopping mall's public loo!) and try all items on. Then go...
I am very sorry for your loss, Andrew. May your brother rest in peace. It’s a beautiful idea making your Camino pilgrimage a memorial for him.
Last year I let go of my hopes to walk the full Frances route when I heard that a friend in England was terminally ill. Because of the time frame, like...
After reading about someone whose sleeping bag was cut at the bottom while they were sleeping (yikes!) I took an oversize lightweight pillow slip: to encase the albergue pillow AND my pouch of 'valuables'.
The pouch was then easy to take with me if I went to the bathroom during the night...
To state the obvious regarding my earlier post about CBA Travel Cards: you'd need to specify Australian Dollars as one of the loaded currencies on the card when you get the card issued: Then you can use it anywhere in Australia as well as overseas.
BTW I had no problems with this card at all...
You're probably not in Australia, but for anyone who is.... the Commonwealth Bank of Australia issues Travel Cards which are really just Debit Master Cards.
You specify which currencies you want (I chose AUD, GBP and Euros) and are valid for a couple of years. They issue you with TWO cards...
What lovely news! All the very best to you Sybil in this exciting move. Would love to meet up with you one day. Enjoy your new home, and your new life!
Hi Marie-Claire. Have. Look at Rock Tape (their website plus You Tube) - they have kinesiology tape that can apparently be used for flexibility and pain for the hip (and elsewhere on the body) - my local pharmacist has been getting great feedback for this tape from sports people.
Thanks to...
I haven't used a FF, but I really love my Peak Aspiration. (Can't remember the name of the smaller one I swapped it for.) The size of the PA suited me better, because I'm not a good packer, and wanted enough space to stuff things into, in my rather untidy fashion....
The PA turned out to be...
If only, if only, the above posts were accompanied by videos!
On second thoughts I'm on the "quiet carriage" of an interurban train, so video + shrieks of laughter might get me thrown off :(
Hi. I reckon you'll have a wonderful Camino if you "design" it according to your own individual circumstances. In my opinion: There is no objective "virtue" in doing a long route. Let's face it, is walking to Santiago from the Pyrenees any more valid than walking from, say, Paris? By the same...
And don't panic (which I did) if you don't get all the sellos - I didn't even know about that rule until my second to last day. I just handed in my Credenciale without explanation, and a sweet guy gave me the Compostela without even questioning it. Mind you, I looked like a bona fide pilgrim: I...
'A Dangerous Place' by Jacqueline Winspear is a novel set in Gibraltar in 1937. Although only a small part of the story, the heroine goes over the border into Spain for a few days to experience at first hand the civil war: definitely well worth reading for this alone, for the fascinating details...
