    Reviews of Four Camino-Related Books

Thanks Todd Agree about Shirley Maclaine’s book but I did enjoy Jack Hitt’s book especially the bit about the mad hospitalero which I thought was too extreme in the The Way. Have just ordered Finding Santiago from Amazon. Too long away from the Camino.

Crossing the Pyrenees from Oloron St. Marie, Bedous or Canfranc Estacion: Tips for Starting the Camino Aragones

Found that really interesting and video presentation so much better. Agree about crossing the Pyrenees. Next June I plan to take the Valcarlos route which in 3 Caminos. I’ve never taken. Then bus to Pamplona and shared ride BlaBlaCar to Jaca. Bus to Canfranc Estacion and walk from there to Punta...

    Walking With Facet Joint Osteoarthritis

I have considered all these options for my debilitating facet joint arthritis and despite excruciating pain taking the Napoleon way three years ago (thank you hospitaleros for your help and concern in Roncevalles) I am prepared to soldier on for the Aragones Camino next May. I will walk til I...

The Tympanum in Conques- slightly comical, an education

Congratulations on your son’s excellent exposition of the tympanum at Conques. A credit to his home schooling and what an education to walk from Le Puy to Santiago.

That daily shower scramble - a different viewpoint

Yes I’m enjoying the thread. My shower restores me after along hike. Psychologically. I can deal with the loss of essential oils in order to feel good. Feeling good is important.

    Pictures of the Aragonés 2019

Enjoyed that particularly at this time. Music was excellent. Am planning my next Camino on the Aragones and would have loved captions to say where photos were taken. Did recognise the last ones on the Frances. Well done.

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Be the storm

I’ve come back again to your discourse because it gives me hope for another Camino. I’ve done three one from Le Puy but now time catches up with me. I’ll be 73 next Camino with a lot of pain from arthritis of the spine. Can I do it. Should I do it?

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Be the storm

What a wonderful evaluation of the Camino from so many different perspectives. I have forwarded ‘be the storm’ to my friends who are experiencing difficult times. It has become my mantra. Thank you

    The Introverted Pilgrim

Well I enjoyed that commentary immensely. I may lie somewhere between introvert and extrovert as we all do. I walk alone. Have been invited to join groups but I still prefer my own thoughts. But then I crave company. So many lovely people I have met on three Camino. Watching the Way. Again and...

Bed bugs in Puente la Reina

Sorry to hear that as I had planned to stay there on my Camino next month. A good albergue to stay in and I hope they can get rid of the pests. My daughters friend inadvertently brought them back to our home after a trip and it was like war trying to get rid of them completely so I do understand...

River Route or Aqueduct to Rates from Vila Do Conde

Hi we took the aquaduct route or tried to and got hopelessly lost. Had to be rescued by a Good Samaritan who took us by car to Rates. Next time we take the coastal route. But it was memorable and either decision will work out in the best Camino tradition!!

Les Sentiers Fleuris & Ferme du Barry (Peyre-en-Aubrac)

Yes I’ve stayed there and enjoyed it and the village. I particularly enjoyed mixing the aligot of potatoes and garlic with the chef. He created a very pleasant atmosphere putting me with English speaking French. My next stop at Lestrade was the best of my LePuy route. A purpose built gite...

Oldest person to complete the Camino Frances ????

Hi so encouraged by this thread. Met Sarah from North Western US. Late 80’s and she was hit by an Italialian cyclist as she pressed into the side of the Camino. He kissed her. She went to hospital: injured ribs: cost her over €200. Met her her when she asked me Sept 2016 to help her on with her...

    The full Camino.

Hi I've walked the 'full ' camino twice. Once by myself and later with my wife. To me there was a great satisfaction in starting in SJPP and finishing in Santiago. I have accepted that there are many responses to the Camino from cycling to buses but I am not impressed. I have had so many...

    Credencial in St Palais?

What a nice idea Jill and so in keeping with the spirit of the Camino. I was not aware that credencials were available in the albergues. Will take your advice. Thanks. Paul

    Credencial in St Palais?

Hi I am walking Le Puy to Santiago and meeting my wife in St Palais just short of St. Jean. Is it possible to pick up a credencial there (we will be hopefully staying in Maison Franciscaine) or should I get her one in Le Puy or St. Jean. Thanks for any advice.
