Booking Albergue Borda for 2024 now open

It Only took maybe 3 to 4 hours. It’s a steep climb out of St Jean. It all depends on your speed. I stopped to take quite a few pictures. I also stopped at Orisson for a bite to eat and arrived in Borda before they opened. They had benches we sat on and waited until they opened. It’s a...

Setting out late September - Accommodations in Labruge

Private room with bathroom-we paid 75 euro but included an amazing breakfast and she gave us enough food and told us to make ourselves a sandwich and take fruit for lunch that day! Two meals and accommodations for two people for 75 euro was a really good deal!! Super nice place and friendly...

Setting out late September - Accommodations in Labruge

Email or call Smiling Places in Labruge. We just stayed there a few weeks ago and it was amazing. You will love it! I don’t think they are on Booking.Com as I booked directly. Also, Labruge is a good haul from Porto on the Senda. It is a good stopping point.

Walking two Caminos on one trip.

We just walked the Portuguese Camino from Porto to Santiago. We are currently on a two week break in Spain and heading to St. Jean to walk a Camino Frances. It is addictive 😊 It’s your Camino-do as you like and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!

Looking for video footage of the 7:30pm Mass in Santiago on Sept 7, 2023, please

I know this is a long shot but . . . My parish priest finished his Camino today (Sep 7) and was allowed to concelebrate the Mass at 7:30pm. He had no way to record anything at Mass and would love to have a video of the Botafumiero if you took a video. Please message me if you have any footage...

    Weighing Travel Insurance Options

I purchased AXA for our upcoming Camino this September. I did some research b4 I purchased and found very good reviews for them. They were actually one of the highest rated travel insurance companies that I found. They also are primary, which means you do not have to submit to your own insurance...

    Beautiful towns on the Norte

My husband and I will be in Oviedo for a few days between 2 Camino walks and have the option to go to Cudillero and Luarca one day. It would be a little over 2 hrs driving time to do both. I was planning on Gijon and/or Aviles because they are closer to Oviedo, however I'd love to hear what...

    Santiago cake

Here is a fantastic recipe for Santiago cake. I have made this several times for different people and everyone raves about it. I cannot verify that it is authentic, however, it is incredibly tasty and there is no pastry crust involved. Super easy to make as well...

    How to order Pinxtos?

This may be a silly question, but I have never been to the eastern part of Spain and we will be walking starting in SJPP in a couple of months. I understand that you can get Pinxtos in certain regions at the beginning of the Camino Frances until about Burgos.(from what I have read) How do you...

Need info about Castro Santa Trega

My husband and I plan to explore Castro Santa Trega while walking the Portuguese Camino. I’m seeing quite a few places on top of the hill/mountain. I found some information on how to get from Muxia to A Coruna on another thread via Arriva bus without going back to Santiago. (https://arriva.es/es/galicia) The attached pix shows the results departing Muxia at 6am and arriving A Coruna at 8:06am. What does (Direct from Carballo) mean? It...
