Hello my lovely support crew!
I'm so sorry to have been out of touch! I absolutely should have updated and can't believe I let it slip my mind. I hope you can forgive me.
I ended up walking 200km of the Camino, to Najera. It was an amazing, challenging, life-changing, confronting, beautiful...
Hello wonderful fellow pilgrims! Thank you again for your amazing words of support and wisdom. I have kept them close to my heart as I've travelled. I did choose to keep going the day after, and walked to Roncesvalles. I began by implementing some of your sage advice- I popped my fluorescent...
Thank you all so much for your beautiful, kind, supportive, and encouraging words. They were a lovely thing to wake up to. I'm off to see the sun on the hills, then think about what to do next. It sounds like a stick and my bright pack cover might be a good start! I'll keep you all posted...
Hi all! I started my Camino at SJPDP this morning, and the first half of the day was amazing. I was the only one who took the route to Valcarlos, and loved the morning fog, vistas, and solitude. I had some really incredible moments and felt so profoundly grateful to be having this experience...
Oh! All the questions! Some of them were answered above (about logistics of being on the trail). I also wondered how much the whole thing cost you, whether you cooked on a camp stove, how safe you felt (and whether you feel that might be different for a single female walking alone), how much...
It makes me sad that you're sad! Unfortunately, the world has many a negative and judgmental soul in it, however my experience is that they're also balanced out with lovely ones :-) Your Camino sounds like it's going to be amazing, and perfectly suited to YOU- which is what matters :-)
Oh my gosh, @Courtney M., I just realised that we start walking in 21 days! Are you ready?! I've been frantically trying to organise all my gear around Uni assignments. There's so much to do!
Yeah, it's a tough one! Will starting in Pamplona give you a chance to get to Santiago? I feel like two weeks isn't enough, but I've not done it yet so don't actually know. My approach to the question would be counting two weeks backwards from Santiago and starting there! I'd also give myself a...
Hi Rob!
In answer to your first question, the Napoleon route will be closed as of November 1st, so Pamplona may be the way to go. :-)
I'm unsure about the second!
Sandra
That's great, James! What a fantastic project to be involved in. :-)
Funny you ask- I just went to ask the same question about sun times on another thread! I'd be interested to know the answer too.
Hi Trisha :-) I remember my first international adventure as being quite daunting also! Once you're on the road for a while, you'll find your own groove and have experiences that remind you that everything always works out exactly as it should :-)
On a practical note, I use Skyscanner to...
Yay Ingrid! Welcome :-) What a big and exciting decision! I'm sure we're all in the same bonkers boat- I know I am ;-) So much to prepare and decide and do. It's going to be amazing! Let us know if you have any specific things you need help with. :-)
