Day 4: Canfrac Estacion to Jaca (Fri 19th)
I took the bus because I understand the pilgrim bridge is not in use. I was supposed to get off at Canfranc but not paying attention so it was Villanua. Much warmer than yesterday but not as hot as in Pau the previous Sunday at 30°C! The camino ran...
I agree the Via di Francesco is a wonderful route, i walked from Florence to Assisi and then Assisi to Rome. I really enjoyed visiting all the places associated with the life of St Francis, especially La Verna and Assisi of course. I love walking in Italy, I'm sure you will have a great time.
Day 3: Peyranere to Canfrac Estacion (18th April)
It was snowing when I left at 9 am and only 3 more km left from Peyranere along the road to the col. The visibility was very poor I was walking through a white mist. The road seems a bit steeper than the day before. The frontier at the col was...
Day 2: Bedous to Peyranere.(17th April)
I originally planed to stay in Urdos this night and Peyranere the next but having read about the landslides on the next section of the path and already decided to get the bus between Borce and Urdos I decided to get the bus from Bedous to Urdos and walk...
I'm sorry to have missed the monastery, if it hadn't been such a miserable day and I hadnt had such a long wait at the station I'm sure I would have seen it. Good luck on your walk to Urdos today.
I've just finished walking Toulouse to Jaca on my pilgrimage from Rome to Santiago which I'm in doing gradually 3 weeks at a time.
I spent a lot of time reading the posts about this section and really appreciated @Juspassinthru live updates who was doing this section when I arrived in Toulouse...
When I walked through this part of France on my way from Rome I just stayed on the coastal road all round the riviera to Mandelieu, I think there was a pavement nearly all the way so safe enough. I just ignored the traffic and looked at the sea!
Hello I walked the route last year. I used this guide
https://www.compostelle-paca-corse.info/evenements/nouveau-guide-menton-arles-via-aurelia
Which you can print off. Its has maps of the route and directions (in French) I also had the GPS trace on my phone. There was some waymarking. There...
I walked the route from Le Puy to SJPdP in 2013. As a woman walking alone i felt quite safe and there were always others pilgrims ( mostly French) to chat to . I had walked the CF the year before from St Jean and so arriving there at the end of my camino it didn't matter which I had walked...
I got a reply from the man at the communal gite in URDOS. The roadworks re not due to restart until May so its possible to take the main road between Borce and Urdos although it is quite narrow.
Snow is falling on the pyrenees at the moment and the col du Somport is closed to all traffic...
Well done Chrissy for completing another camino! I've really enjoyed your updates and photos. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and have a safe journey home.
This is a really good idea, there is a train stopping at every place between Genoa and La Spezia. I could have walked each day with a nice little day pack. If only I had thought of it! 🤭
Hello, I am walking from Rome to Santiago ( in stages) and recently walked through this area. I found the hike down into Riomaggiore from Telegrafo very difficult. Many flights of steep tall steps, possibly ok for a man but difficult for my legs. With the backpack on my balance is a bit off and...
