    Walking While Pregnant

Hi Sumin and congratulations! We met and walked for several days on the CF in September 2016 with a beautiful young lady in her first trimester (about 11 weeks). It was quite hot and the only obvious decision she made was to have her pack transported from place to place (oh...and no partaking...

How much weight did you lose?

I put on 3 kgs in 35 days!! I exercise a lot at home but am very careful with what I eat - however all the beer and tortilla caught up with me - apparently walking 25kms per day does not make up for eating and drinking too much :-(

    Weather in September & October?

We walked 9 Sept 2016 - just checked my photos - short sleeve merino tshirt and zip off hiking pants - started with long legs but quickly zipped off to shorts by Orisson. It was a very warm September though - we had temps in the mid 30's for the first couple of weeks - but it cooled down...

    Travelling Light

I agree with the neoprene strap for sunglasses. I don't know how old you are but I also carried my reading glasses in case on carbiner on pack strap. Also a light collapsible cup on a carbiner on pack strap for water fountains (and Irache wine too). I chose a bladder because it made drinking...

    Casa Banderas

Oh that is very sad news. I hope he is OK. We had Casa Banderas all to ourselves when we passed through last year and Gordon was an amazing host - it was very nice stopping just before Portomarin after the shock of all the pilgrims starting at Sarria.

    Sandals.. a last minute decision.

A lot depends on whether you have troublesome feet e.g. bunions or need orthotics (which I do). For a Sept/Oct Camino last year, I took Keen Whispers as my backup plus very cheap, light rubber thongs for shower. The Keens were heavy (650g) and terrible for me as a second pair of walking shoes...

My September 2016 Camino Frances SJPDP-SDC

and a triplet.... I walked with my husband about the same time leaving SJPdP on 9 Sep 16 arriving in SDC on 17 Oct....I haven't been able to articulate my walk internally or externally yet so really enjoyed reading your blog. I open my mouth to try to describe the experience but nothing comes...

    sleeping bags

Couldn't agree more Trecile! You still like to feel human - I have a favourite trusted sunscreen so took enough to last - really missed my ability to be generous with moisturiser - would take more next time!

    sleeping bags

About to issue a long post Tina-Marie :-) You will be very happy with that pack weight - good on you!! Hubby & I took a 200ml sunscreen (Neutrogena Beach Defence - smells great) and both used it every day and had plenty left (he carried it). You are in the sun for a long time each day! I...

    sleeping bags

That's me Tina-Marie - and one of the main reasons I used my sleeping bag as a blanket rather than getting in it - so I could do the leg in/leg out menopause dance through the night :-). It was actually a bit slippery which is why I think a silk liner and a throw blanket might do the trick.

    sleeping bags

We walked CF this year from 11 Sept - 17 October. It was unseasonably hot for the first couple of weeks and silk liner was ample. Was happy to have my Sea to Summit TR 1 (thanks to forum recommendations) for the last couple of weeks - even though often just opened as a blanket. We ended up...

Post Camino Question- Route from Cacabelos to Villefranca

As a Garmin addict, here's a partial printout from our October 2016 walk ... it was an incredibly hot day and we considered taking the shorter route but walking on the road was not nice at all in the heat ...very glad we chose the walk through the vineyards. That was a pretty long walk from...

LIVE from the Camino Only 30 kms to go!

We are slowing down our walk into Santiago so we can arrive about 10.30 am Monday morning 17/10. What should we do first? Can't check into our hotel until later but can drop our backpacks off when we arrive. We'd love to make midday Pilgrim's mass. We're hearing rumours about "tickets" to mass -...
