Where to stay from Tui to Pontevedra

I really enjoyed an alternative to O Porrino. I walked from Tui to Os Eidos and stayed at Casa Alternativo. The Host Dries is wonderful and provides the full experience. However it was only an 8 km walk, but I too was not in a hurry. From there I walked to Rua Mos (Dries will give you...

visiting from australia. where should we fly into

Another option is to fly with Lufthansa in alliance with Singapore Airlines, but probably two stops, first in Singapore. I flew to Porto with Lufthansa to walk Portuguese Camino. As per other responses there are many options.

    eSim for Spain

Hi I haven't read any other posts so I apologise if I am repeating anything. I used Airalo last year when in Portugal and Spain, for data only. Without looking at the Airalo app right now I am thinking that it is only for data. You put the app on your phone and then purchase the plan you...

I arrived in Santiago and didn't see a single pilgrim.

Would love to read what your stages were, and your accommodation along that way.

short stages on the Camino del NORTE?

Wow that is great, can you advise if there are municipal albergues in all those towns. I am walking the French way next year from Burgos, and was going to finish with that, but now I am inspired.

    Convento in Hebron

I stayed there in early October last year and the convent didn't open doors until 4 pm. I arrived around 2 pm and just walked around, hung out. There were only a few others and in fact the place was half empty. A wonderful place to stay. The walk there is beautiful but I don't think other...

Getting to Vairao or other monasteries from the coastal route?

Hey there cut across from Labruge, just use Google Maps, and then cut back after Vairao (great experience) to get to Povoa de Varzim. Both are nice walks. Neither are long walks but they are nice. The monastery in Herbon is also a must, the hospitalaros are just wonderful.

Looking for monastery recommendations Camino Portugués

I caught the boat after the variante and walked to Herbon, and was welcomed with open arms. I was suffering from Plantar Fasciitis, and was in a lot of pain, and the hospitalaros were just gorgeous, wrapped my foot in ice, really took care of me. It didn't open until 4 pm, so sat in the sun on...

    Hungarian National Blue Trail

Thanks I have seen those sites, and am currently using this website: www.termeszetjaro.hu and select blue trails and then northern (OKT). Not having much luck with the accommodation side of things, it is very limited on the usual booking sites, so I think that many must be wild camping. Alas...

    Hungarian National Blue Trail

Hi think tank and experienced trekkers I am looking into walking the blue trail in Hungary, some 1138 km or so. Looking for information on this trail is not like the abundant information for all things Camino, so I was wondering even though off topic if anyone has any experience walking this...

Cacabelos municipal albergue reopened - 22 May 2023

How wonderful I have had a reminder in my calendar to check when this albergue would re-open and I am thrilled to hear it has. It is on my "list" of places to stop next year. Thanks so much for sharing.

    My Secret Weapon for Blisters

I used exactly this, except just cheap wick off socks from Aldi. No blisters at all.

    How accurate is AccuWeather?

I am also in Australia and use Accuweather often when planning, both here and overseas. One thing I tend to pay attention to is the percentage of rain expected. The higher that percentage the more accurate it is. The percentage for for Sunday is 94% and expected rain is about 15 mm, so I feel...

Rethink HOW and WHEN you walk the Francés - strategies for walking during busy times

This is certainly my strategy, intending to start around 15th May 2024 from Burgos, walking shorter stages (shortest day is 8 km and longest is 18 km) over four weeks (with a couple of rest days) and stopping in Sarria because I am not "needing" to go to Santiago de Compostela again. I also...

Hi I can't find how to add my next Camino to my profile, would someone be able to point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Just me or did the most Read Topics add "awstract.me"

I also noticed this morning that clicking on a link in your email to this page, it was blocked, with reference to something to do with a Peter. I chose to click the don't warn me about this, however felt a bit uncomfortable doing that. This was on my home computer, not my phone. Like so many...

    slow paced Itinerary-camino frances

I have a slow paced French Camino planned for next year. My average days will be 10 to 15 km at the most except for the stretch on the Meseta that is 17.2 km. I intend on taking nearly 5 weeks to complete. I agree with what others say, just plot your own journey using Wise Camino and Gronze as...

Getting Great Mileage But Missing the Jewels

Indeed my plan so I originally chose Leon to Sarria but got swayed by encouragement to start at Burgos and include the Meseta so am now going to walk from Burgos to Sarria, and plan over 5 weeks, so very slowly, slowly (as once suggested to me by a guide in Nepal). I already have a compostela...

Getting Great Mileage But Missing the Jewels

I am with you Robo, I walk shorter stages usually no more than 15 km a day, and this is my plan on the Frances, having allowed about 5 weeks to walk from Burgos to Sarria, scheduled for 2024. I walk alone mostly because others are passing me by walking longer stages. For me it feels less...
