It's been mostly lovely. Thanks to most of you for your kindness and understanding as I take the first steps of my first time out of the US to walk the Camino. If I've offended you by my aggravation at intolerance by those who have "been there, done that" and feel that snide remarks make the...
My husband is the safety coordinator for his company and a lot of his crew work outdoors. The company supplies these workers with a cooling system you wet and wear around your neck. I got one today at Lowe's, followed the instructions and 45 minutes later it's still cold. Granted I'm not...
Couldn't figure out how to get this in the footwear thread, sorry. Last week I wore my Columbia ankle high hiking shoes with non wool socks and when I got back they smelled horrible. As a rule I don't have stinky feet. Baking soda didn't help so removed the liners that came with them and...
To all the Mothers, Grandmothers, Dads who are both Mom and Dad, Moms who are both Dad and Mom, and all care givers who fill those roles: blessings to you for the love that you give and teach. Life is a Camino...a walk...a Way...for all of us. Hope we can all learn that it's not the...
Six weeks into training, 8 lb pack, and worked up to comfortable with 8 miles. 3 days ago my hip started hurting in the socket at about 2 miles. I stop and stretch when I can't stand it, then move on. I can only go about another quarter mile until I have to stop and stretch again. This...
I've gotten my pack set so that it sits properly on my hips, but notice that I've still got some rubbing from the front shoulder straps, especially when wearing a tank top. Anyone try using padding on theirs? Maybe a seat belt pad?
I've been studying the different types of secure carry belts and wallets. I can't imagine wearing an under shirt or in pants wallet in the summer. I'll have cash, cards, passport. Any recommendations, especially from the ladies? Thanks.
The closer it gets, the more i walk, the more i prepare my body and heart...it's become an ache inside me. I've read so many times that the Camino calls. It's telling me to hurry, hurry...
I'm taking a sleeping pad and bag because I'm an older soul who may not make it to the next spot in time for a bed. Anyone else planning on the possibility of nights under the stars?
As you can tell by the thread title, I'm wondering if there will be be anywhere between Ponferrada and Finesterre for a non-Catholic to receive the Sacrament? I think there are only Catholic churches. ..just not sure.
Ivar! My Pilgrim's Passport arrived in the mail today in Florida USA. Thanks! Do I wait and register at the first Pilgrim's office I come across? I land in Madrid, then to Ponferrada to begin my Way.
