Thanks for this information. I have wondered about the trail and will read your posts about it. If you need a place to stay in Cedar Rapids, I may have a spot for you (if we're not gone hiking!)
I live in Iowa and have grown them for many years. I'm not sure if I bought the seeds in Spain or ordered them in the US. I start them from seeds 2 months ahead of planting them in May and I always end up with way more than I need. And as they say some are hot and some are not.
Topo is my latest wide gortex shoe to use. I liked this pair even more than rhe many Altras and Oboz I have hiked in. They are light, wide, and kept my feet dry. My wife latched on to the New Balance gortex Hierra (sp?) version 6 which has now been replaced by the v 7. They are also wide.

We are considering walking the Via Postumia this spring. The route information is fairly comprehensive but I have not been able to locate anyone who has recently walked it and would like some first hand pros and cons info regarding the trail. Any information or a point in the right direction...
We have used the bag on the link below for our soap for many years. You can keep the soap in it while in the shower and the bag acts as a skin scrubber. You can hang it in those showers where there's no soap tray. It can be hung on a clothesline or bed frame to dry out. It's cheap, too.
Hiker's...
Chacos are great for my crappy feet but as you said too heavy. For two caminos I used oofos which are great but not real stable. This year I am wearing Chaco Odyssey which have great support for my feet but are MUCH LIGHTER than their sandals
Worth a look.
Also I could hike with them if I...
