If you are intending to use the Sanabres to get you into Santiago then be prepared for a little of everything at that time of year. I've walked that part twice at that time of year and experienced all four seasons.
Veteran of 5 different routes. Don’t forget to factor in the weather. I once walked out of Burgos (in an April) all set for a long stage, one hour into the day I was experiencing large hail stones in a head-on gale. The day ended at the nearest albergue. Many who arrived after me were on the...
The first section wasn't technically challenging, but the stage through the El Torcal Reserve had a very slippery and steep descent (My Day 3 Villanueva to Antequera). Overall the route was more than a little rough underfoot. I often had sore ankles and was very glad to have my walking poles...
Hi Tanya,
I was walking the Mozarabe/Via in 2020, just as the pandemic was kicking in. I left Malaga in mid February and made it as far as Salamanca before everything started to close down. For the first part of the camino, up to Merida, I didn't encounter many other pilgrims so competition for...
It’s a very simple bus journey from Malaga to Gibraltar and there are some budget hotels on the Gib side. If you do go across make sure that the border guards stamp your passport in and out, they tend to assume you are locals who don’t need a visa stamp.
Hello Ray, I’m planning to walk the Sureste then onto the Sanabres early next year. I’ve just recently got the CSJ Guide from their London HQ and also the Spanish Guide from the Asociacion Amigos in Alicante. (www.encaminodesdealicante.org). The Sureste crosses paths with the Levante, and I...
I'm currently planning my Spring 2022 Camino from Alicante to SdC. For the section between Minaya and La Villa de Don Fadrique there are 3 camino options: Levante, Sureste and the Santa Cruz. I've read some individual blogs in the forum about these but I am having a hard time deciding which path...
Earlier this year I had planned to walk a Sureste/Levant combo from Alicante and then take the Sanabres into SdC. Cancelled by COVID restrictions of course, but I’m still torn between walking it this autumn, or leaving it until next spring. From an accommodation stand point, is it at all...
Hello and Happy New Year to you all. I’m planning to walk out of Malaga mid February with the aim of getting to Santiago along the Mozarabe, Via and Sanabres. Can anyone recommend a place in Malaga for my first night?
I walked the Via from Seville to SdC in April/May this year. There were numerous areas where pulling a single wheel trailer behind me would have been absolutely impossible.
Hi Dave, I walked the Via from Seville commencing April 2018. I timed my start for a week after the Easter celebrations had completed. It was a fabulous experience from start to finish. Never too crowded but the Sanabres became a bit of a bed race towards the end. Experienced all four...
I recall seeing an alternative Gronze route map to miss the Frances crowds on this last stretch into SdC. Blowed if I can find the link now, does anyone have it please?
