Planning on starting the VdlP in the spring of 2019. ( mid March for six or seven weeks ). I see a lot of people with great experiences in the fall but that is not an option for me right now. Any problem with the spring.
I just completed the Norte and there are countless places to get great food. . I have to say this, I was highly disappointed with the albergues kitchen facilities . As a " general rule " I found that several albergues that advertised having a kitchen in fact had very limited or next to no...
Wish it was me that you were meeting along the way but I am taking a year off walking a Camino and biking around holland. Camino Saville will be my next. Have a great journey.
It very well could be. Is it supported by hostels oblong the way similar to the more traditional Caminos . If so is there a guide book. I see several hiking books on the market. Do they list albergues ???
This is not so much a response as a question. My wife and I have walked the Frances , Portuguese , Finisterra , Muxia, and the Primitivo . We enjoyed every one for different reasons. . The only common thread was that the people you meet are spectacular . We met an older couple on the Norte...
Glad you looked into it but the short answer is no, I found no independent research to support ( or rebuff ) the claims . In all fairness I did not look for additional info. Like you I was skeptical . I would rather dunk my bag in permetherin but my wife will not allow it. Lol
Again, to be...
I agree with not fretting, I too give the albergue a quick inspection and on two occasions walked out to select another. Not using the blankets may also be a reason why we do so well. Bugs will be around regardless of how well everyone tries to stop them. Be smart , be cautious, and do a Camino .
I just completed the Camino Norte. I sprayed my sleeping liner ( that's all I used ) as well as my pack. I did not experience a single bite, nor did my wife.
I did the same on the Primitivo, French, Muxia, Portuguese, ant Finisterra. My wife may have had one bite on the French but that is up...
Starting Norte tomorrow, taking one phone between my wife and I. Limited contact with family back in Canada but emergencies do happen. Rarely used for reservations as we tend to " hope for the best " and it seems to work out well.
Buen Camino
Just go and get on the plane, I watched a 70 yr old man holding a stick at one end while his completely blind brother ( also about 70 yrs old ) held the other end . They walked the entire Camino Frances in 2015. Work within your limitation and enjoy every step. I leave tomorrow for the Norte...
My wife and I start the Norte next week ( Sept 6 or 7 ) depending on travel from airport to Santander. best of luck to all hope to see you on the trail.
Buen camino
Walked from Porto to Santiago . Took the bus to the airport and stated from there . Met a gentleman a day later that walked from down town Porto and had nothing good to say about that portion of the walk . We walked the coastal for one day and then changed to the inland route. found the markings...
will be starting the Norte on Sept 06-07 ( nextvweek ) , wondering if it will be busy don't much care for the " bed race " idea. I did the Primitivo in Sept last year ( 2016 ) and found it to be very quiet. there were only about 15 other pilgrams that came in and out of our travels
Sorry to bother and I am sure that there are many posts for this info . Starting the Norte on September 6 or 7 ( next week ) Looking for latest list of albergues Trying to divide up a few of the longer days. Any assistance would be great Have the book from 2012 that was updated in 2015...
Whenever you purchase a house the three most important things to look for is location, location, and location. When you walk the Portuguese you will see cobble, cobble and more cobble. I said many prayers after cursing the cobble. Regardless loved every step.
Not sure if this is on your route but between Barcelos and Bonte de Lima is Casa Da Fernanda in Lugar Do Cordo . Best time ever , lots of fun , you will feel welcome . Little tricky to find but is right on the trail , everyone who has stayed there will speak positive about their experience
