I should probably know this by now, but for some reason, today, I'm suffering from a terrible, terrible mental block!!
Leon to Santiago - Can't you do it in 2 weeks? I think you can, but I really can't remember.. I'm asking on behalf of a pilgrim friend of mine I met last year.
So I went to visit someone I met on the Camino a few weeks ago and we visited the small town of Spier in SW Germany. Nice town... and there was a statue of a pilgrim! Made me want to do it again... Or at least a part of it. I swore blind that I wouldn't do it next year, but.......
It´s been horrible. Torrential from Vierge d´Orisson, horrible weather through from Larrasoana to Cizur, horrible amounts of mud before Altoo del Perdon... Oh, and because my feet got wet I´m now the proud owner of a blister the size of Manhattan!
Buen Camino!
I notice that Ivar pointed out that the way marks from Santiago to Finisterre were damaged in the fires last year. I heard from a fellow pilgrim last year that these old way marks were a little unreliable and that a guide book would probably be worthwhile. I DO have a guide book, although the...
Was thinking last night, we've all learned some handy stuff on the Camino, so why not share it?
When you're served bread with your evening meal, stash some in a napkin so you've got more grub to eat while your out on the open road.
If anyone else has any bright ideas, please... Share em!
Saturday 28 April
Anyone know what sorts of things go on at these? Just thought I might pop my head in to see what's what... Although having Caminoed before, not sure what I could glean from it, but hey, it's not like they lock you in is it? (I hope!)
Ok, all going well, I'll be getting to St. Jean on 18th August with a view to start walking on 19th. Anyone thinking of starting at about the same time?
So... Camino numero three is coming up (hurrah!) and I've been toying with either starting at St. Jean again (as I think Navarra and Rioja are the nicest bits!) or doing the Northern way...
Really not sure what I want to do at the moment. Does the Northern route offer that lovely sense of...
When I was walking to Rabanal, I decided that I wanted to walk a bit further than the 20ish km and so opted to stay in Foncebadon. I stayed in the private albergue up there and really enjoyed it. The people were lovely and although it was 7€ to stay, I think it was worth it for the atmosphere...
Are there any books that might clarify the route, albergue situation? Is it as organised as the Camino Frances?
Any hints etc would be gratefully appreciated.
Cheers fellas.
I'm back! What fun!
Hard work, cheap food and 'Interesting' wines!
Had a nightmare with my baggage, since Iberia decided it wasn't worth taking ANYONE'S luggage on my flight and so after two days of thumb twiddling and luggage carousels, I decided to get a whole load of new stuff and just...
I found myself tottering past the church where the CSJ is based and thought about popping my head in to see if anyone was there for a little chat. I didn't!
Anyway, was wondering if you guys at the CSJ are there on a regular basis?
Cheers!
Did anyone read this in the Times on Saturday?
I was horrified to read this at the end:
"Walks Worldwide (01524 242000, http://www.walksworldwide.com) offers a variety of ways to experience the Camino de Santiago; self-guided packages with different length itineraries, pre-booked...
Right, really want to miss all the sprints for beds that tends to happen around the Feast of St James and Assumption. Do you think if I started about the 10th August that I'll be alright? I've been yearning to return since I left Spain last summer and just want it to be right.
Cheers in...
I noticed last summer that many people were reticent about stopping off at San Juan de Ortega. Many walked on a further 5-6 km to Atapuerca, which apparently is great to stay in. By the time we'd caught up with the majority, the Albergue was full, leaving us either the option of hauling...
