Crossing the Pyrenees from Oloron St. Marie, Bedous or Canfranc Estacion: Tips for Starting the Camino Aragones

Hi Alberta girl! I also was hesitant after hearing the OP's impressions of the pass route as harder than the first day of The Frances route. I also, like you, stopped at Orrisson for the night and then walked to Roncesvalles the next day. I found it challenging but doable. I am considering the...

Has the Camino Frances become a victim of its own success?

Thankyou for your reply. I havent listen to the moaning queens. I am my own person. I just know that there was a difference between walking in 2017 and 2019 so logically, it could be even busier. Just wanted some frequent walkers' perspectives on how they have seen things evolve to help me make...

Has the Camino Frances become a victim of its own success?

I walked the Frances in 2017 and the Portuguese in 2019. I want to walk the Frances again but I am seeing many posts about how busy it is and from 2016 to now, I can see it's gotten pretty congested. How are the repetitive walkers of this Camino trail feeling? Does it put you off? How much has...

Is the camino a ritual for all spanish people?

Wow is that right!? In the movie, The Way and in John Brierley's guidebook, I'm sure they both suggest that the Camino is a thing that all Spaniards attempt to do some time or other. There were so many locals who started from Sarria in particular, that I encountered. I should have asked them as...

Is the camino a ritual for all spanish people?

Hi fellow pilgrims, Is the Camino a ritual for most Spanish to do at least once in their lifetime? I do remember hearing this when I walked a couple of years ago. I have to write an essay for university on a ritual and I'd like to write on this topic as I have a lot of insider knowledge on it...
