Where can I change to the Spanish Sim Card on CF?

I bought a SIM card from UK provider 3 via Amazon.ca prior to my Nov trip to France and Germany and my daughter did same for her trip through Greece Italy Spain and Portugal. I think was 30 CAD and got it all set up easily before departing Canada. 30gb and huge amount of minutes. My daughter...

A necessary skip along the Norte, seeking recomendations

Loved Irun to Bilbao but did bus in the last day to Bilbao from suburbs and subway to Portugalate on way out of town to avoid suburban walking. The Camino is weird - you can have a great day of walking and thinking on the drabbest of stages and miserable day on the most beautiful.

What is the nicest thing that anyone has said to you on the camino?

“Yes, the bar in the village ahead is open!” yelled down the hill to us by people ahead after a long day on the Hospitales Route

    Norte or Primitivo in May?

Food wise and hotel availability wise a walk between Irun or SS to Bilbao would fit your timeline. Loved the Basque Country.

Camino del Norte in 28 days. Start in Bilbao or start in Irun and skip some stages?

I plan to redo Irun to Bilbao - we loved the countryside, the people, everything. Plus it will make you stronger for the rest of the route. We had a small Camino family that we met often despite rest days side trips etc. Hope you have fun.

How long did it take for you to get to "de-cluttering" after Camino?

We started decluttering about a week after we were home from Norte/Primitivo in 2016. Like others a month with such a little amount of stuff - and not missing the weight of all our things we have accumulated was formative.

Trail runners: Altra or Brooks, or Hoka????

We walked Norte in 2016 with Scarpa Rapid LT with superfeet insoles. Training for Le Puy route using Hoka Speedgoat 3 waterproof mid (avail in clear out from their website) for my wife and Hoka waterproof hiking shoes for me Toa’s. Have both been running in Hoka Cliftons and they have been...

    Pre-St. Jean Walking in France

We walked the Norte in 2016 and are doing 2 weeks from Le Puy to Moissac next April for 55th birthdays. Several books on Amazon - kindle format - from other pilgrims. Particularly enjoyed Maggie Ramsay’s book. Description of the landscape and the food was great. https://a.co/jj4iGzB

    Del Norte in 30 days?

We walked from Irun to Santiago via Norte then Primitivo in about 30 days. We had long days coupled with rest days in Bilbao, Santander, Oviedo and Lugo but would have been better with shorter days and less rest.

    The Silent Camino "People"

Primitivo art. One from Tineo and other from Roman bridge on way out of Lugo

    April Camino

We started from Irun on 28 April 2016. Was a very warm and sunny day - put a nice tan on me that would just grow over next month

Bordeaux to Irún on the Voie Littorale to connect with the Norte

We have had to defer our plans. Look forward to reading about your trip

Camino Primitivo or continue on the Norte?

We loved the Norte/Primitivo combo. Norte was great training for Primitivo- shame to waste strong legs.

Accomodations on the Camino del Norte

2016 from Irun started 28 April or so. Used Booking.com and booked day or two ahead for private accommodation with no problem.

Favorite places and or accommodation from Santander onwards

Hotel Los Angeles in Santillana had a couple of rooms with patio overlooking park in front that we enjoyed. We also had some rest days in Llanes that were terrific

Walking Poles on the Primitivo. Yes or No.

Found them very useful on steep descent from Hospitales route as very helpful climbing up from dam in to Grandes

What's going on? Camino del Norte hard?

We did Norte/Primitivo for our 50th birthday in 2016. I planned first week badly - links to blog under my username- and this meant some stupidly difficult days ie 42km stage from Zumaia over two small ranges etc. But even with that we managed. Going back next Spring to walk some of Voie...

    Does it get better?

You get stronger and it gets a little easier although you still have a tough day or two ahead. Slow down if you can and shorten up days. Good luck
