We have just returned from the Camino Portugues, having done the Senda Litoral up to the River Minho then turning inland and walking uprive to Valenca to cross into Spain at Tui. We had one great opportunity to swim in the sea when we reached Praia de Ancora and stayed in the Albergaria Quim...
I presume you haven't followed the Senda Litoral, where, for the first couple of days out of Porto you walk on a tremendous surface, a wooden boardwalk! It gives a little back in spring from each step! But I agree, once you hit the cobblestones they are HELL if you have blisters on your...
Hi micamino73,
We are just back from the Camino Portugues and passed a Spanish family on the inland leg from Tui on a number of occasions. A couple with two boys, who I would estimate were about 10 years and 8 years old, carrying sticks and play-acting (?superhero's) as they went! Remarkable!
Just back from completing the Caamino Portugues from Porto, where we followed the Senda Littoral up to the River Minho then turned inland to cross into Spain from Valenca to Tui. On that day's walk (Valenca/Tui to O Porrino), we went under a fairly substantial road bridge which must have been...
Hi Everyone,
I'm Steve (PathMan) and I signed up over a year ago in preparation for our Camino (the Portugues) which starts on Tuesday, 13th June 2017. I am walking with my wife (Sharon) and two friends, Pete & Margaret, and we will be walking from Porto on the Senda Litoral up as far as the...
Be careful with the terminology Helena! The coastal route isn't actually (right) on the coast. If you want to walk water-side as much as possible you will need the Senda Litoral. Check out Luis do Freixo's maps....

I think the Spanish "reasonable force" clause is common throughout Europe? It is certainly the case here in the UK and there are occasional cases where someone (a home-owner or someone defending themselves) are prosecuted for seriously injuring or even killing a perpetrator. In many/most cases...
Hi Clark,
You don't say where you are travelling from? I will be doing the trip from London, England and using RyanAir can fly into Porto and return from Santiago de Compostella. Don't know if that's of any use to you?
I am currently on holiday in Tenerife so haven't got access to my PC and software, so I cannot convert myself but I will email it to Ivar and he can convert and post it on this forum. Regards,
I hadn't realised I could attach it! Ah, there is a "Upload a File" icon below, I shall try that!
Except it doesn't allow for an Excel file to be uploaded? Any suggestions?
Hi Kat,
I have a detailed itinerary that I have developed for our planned camino from Porto to SdC which we intend to do in June 2017. It starts out coastal then turns inland. I have it within an Excel spreadsheet with details of planned hotel stops and costs. You are welcome to use this if you...
An article appears in the Daily Mail online today (link below) which reports that simple medical tape has been demonstrated to be an effective aid in preventing blisters.
Worth a try...
Hi Everyone,
I am planning to do the Camino Portugues with my wife and a couple of friends in June 2017 (yes, I know it's a long way off!).
I have been doing some detailed planning of each days walk using the detailed maps provided by O'Luis do Freixo and have discovered that the last map (CC10)...
