Travel woes - trapped in Dubai

Such a stressful event. I'm travelling around Australia in a van atm and just read about the storm in detail. 30,000 pieces of luggage in Dubai need to be sorted so the suggestion to buy what you need in Decathlon and start walking may be the best solution. Friends hiking in Latvia lost their...

    Gortex or No -Gortex Shoes

There is no sand walking on the coastal route. It’s all asphalt and boardwalks and an easy walk. Enjoy 👣

    Gortex or No -Gortex Shoes

Was walking the Portuguese at the same time! It was saturating haha. The rain poured from above and because the ground was so sodden, and with nowhere else to go, you had to walk shin deep in water with shoes on. Yes, the non goretex let the water out but my partners’ goretex kept it in, and as...

    Gortex or No -Gortex Shoes

Exactly the same experience for us and I totally agree. He is now a non goretex devotee! I did wear injinji toe socks under lightfoot brand socks and once the water squished out, I never felt that my feet were wet. And a vote here for non goretex Hoka Speedgoats 👣

For those who have walked the Camino 2 or more times

Wow, so many replies! My first CF late April 2016 - “I’ll never do that again” (such painful feet!) but……it was so beautiful. Mid September 2022 - my second CF. Again so beautiful with the difference in seasons and although there was so much familiarity of course, it was new, not to mention the...

Pilgrims from Australia and the wonderful New Zealand

You will really enjoy that combo Camino! Did it in April/May this year. Wasn’t keen on the Madrid at times but in retrospect it was great and the exercise got me ready for the next 2 👣🌻

    Ivar’s storage dates?

Thankyou for the replies tercile and ivar. We are from Australia, going to a wedding in the UK, then of course being so far from home have to do another Camino and can’t carry those extra clothes !!

    Ivar’s storage dates?

I’m wondering when Ivar’s storage facility closes as I could send a small package from Lisbon on the 10th Oct (then walking from Coimbra) for pick up in Santiago 2nd November. Thanks for the information 👣

    Day 1: Norte vs Frances

And the views from the top over the Bay or Biscay are stunning, making it so worthwhile!!

    Efrén González QR code

Yes I’m surprised at the negativity directed at Efren 🥲 He’s entertained many with his magnificent drone photography and happy personality. Give it a break please, time to shut it down 👣👣

    Salvador/Primitivo vs. Salvador/Norte (Aviles)

I did the Norte 2018 too starting in early May! Don’t tell the calves - they should be well primed by now😂👣 You will definitely enjoy the Primitivo

Mansilla de la Mulas to León: why bother?

My thoughts too!! Wouldn’t miss the urban sprawl 👣👣

Mansilla de la Mulas to León: why bother?

Love this….do what makes you happy 😊 Life is too short - as my dear Dad said “you’re a long time dead” 👣👣

    Salvador/Primitivo vs. Salvador/Norte (Aviles)

When I did the Norte in 2018 and came to the split at Casquita (decisions, decisions!) the thought of more ascents/descents kept me on the Norte which was beautiful too. After the Salvador I embraced more mountains!!

    Salvador/Primitivo vs. Salvador/Norte (Aviles)

I enjoyed the combo with the contrasting views. Buen Camino 👣👣

    Salvador/Primitivo vs. Salvador/Norte (Aviles)

I would highly recommend the Primitivo as an extension of the mountains after the Salvador 👣👣

    Salvador/Primitivo vs. Salvador/Norte (Aviles)

Just finished Madrid, Salvador and Primitivo. Definitely the Primitivo was a favourite - beautiful in every respect, scenery was stunning! Save the entire Del Norte for another time. Are you doing the first part of the Norte from Irun to the split?👣👣

    Need some beach life

You could even go surfing! At least…,swimming.

    Need some beach life

This is such a good idea!! A Coruna is really lovely and the walk to Hercules Tower is along the coastal path! Wish I’d stayed a few days instead of a day trip.
