I didn’t double stamp and I didn’t bother to get a Compostela but I’m sure they’ll accommodate you if you show them your stamps.
Missing the double stamps must be a regular occurrence.
I took my hiking boots and a pair of crocs and I found that was all I needed.
I hope you have a great Camino. Don’t forget your pebble from your hometown to place at the foot of the Cruz de Ferro. Buen Camino.
I don’t think your missing anything!
Even when it’s featured on TV programs the Camino de Santiago de Compostela is looked on as more of a hiking trail with usually just a nod to the religious aspects of it.
When I walked the French Way in 2016 I did it for religious reasons and I met some very...
Hi, I'd advise you keep within your daily walking limit (not knowing the age of your daughter).
I used a John Brierly map only book to work back from Santiago de Compostela allowing at least one day's rest.
Hi, I used an All in One waterproof rainware coat that covers the backpack and your body. I had no problems once I figured out how to stop the bottom of the coat flapping around. Cheap on EBay....but get a size larger. Have a blessed Camino.
35 litre bag seems a little on the small side though? I'd like to see a 50/55 litre one...thanks for the heads up I'll have a look at thier range. God bless.
Hi, have you tried "The City of St Pierre" known as the city of the poor.
It's just up the road from Lourdes and there's a free bus that leaves every half hour just opposite Saint Joseph's Gate. It used to be free accommodation if you did a few chores. It's an easy ten minuet walk down into...
Hi Ian,
Most of the time the weather was ok I hit a few showers and it was cold in the early mornings but that's part of the Camino. I'm like you, I prefer to walk alone but you will meet some great people on the way.
It's definitely worth doing and don't forget to get 2 stamps per day on the...
Hi Wazza, like you I've done the Camino France's and I pushed myself pretty hard ( im 69 and I have Addison's disease) but you've wetted my appetite for the Portugese Camino. I met an Italian girl on the Camino Frances who'd walked the Portugeese Camino and she said it was beautiful and a lot...
When I did my Camino I only took a cheap phone for texts and emergency use and a few photos . I wanted to enjoy the experience and not have to worry about loosing my valuables, whatever you choose to take with you I wish you a safe and peaceful Camino.
I used a good pair of boots but the thing that made a difference was my thick walking socks, I didn't get a single blister. My tip would be to get at least three pairs of thick walking socks and don't forget to get some practice miles/ kilometers in before you go. Have a good Camino,God bless...
Hi, I did my Camino in 2016 ( not my last though). I didn't encounter a single bed bug, although an Italian girl I met did get bitten)
Most of the place I stayed gave us disposable mattress and pillow covers. Take basic hygiene precautions and enjoy beautiful Spain.
Hello Dave,
Nice to see you're beginning a journey of faith. I went to Lourdes for the first time and went through the the Mercy Gate in 2016. I went to confession and washed in the waters of Lourdes then onto the Camino. You'll find some very beautiful churches and Cathedrals but for me the...
