    Central route and paved surfaces

Hi Ed The guidebook does warn of many kms of paved roads and paths on the outskirts of Porto but we found that to extend far beyond. The first 3 days were basically on hard cobbled surfaces. We began to wonder who laid all this paving. Even some of the "natural paths" were hard underfoot ...

Even the smallest of creatures FourSeasons. We watched a dung beetle for some time wondering if it would ever cross the path with its "load". This calf obviously liked my salty palm

Great photo Bill905 and what a beautiful sentiment ... walking with your granddaughter. How I wish I could have shared that sacred path with my "Da". Maybe one day with my son. You may still be on your Camino Portugues and I sincerely hope it provides ... or has provided some beautiful moments.

Clearly this welcome stone has been cleaned and refreshed since we passed it in May 2013. Also taken at a very different time of year. However, it never ceases to amaze me that people on pilgrimage would want to graffiti all the mileage markers and signs like this. Who carries spray paint...

I had never heard of the Lana, but I just Googled it ... what else? Where will you be "hospis" in El Burgo Ranero? I'm going to post one more photo just because it is one of the best sunsets and it was taken in El Burgo Ranero. I think I posted it last year some time. I'm getting soooo...

The sun has long since set DownUnder but I've come out of "black & white" just for you Rick. You wanted green. These were taken on 25th April 2013 on Camino Frances (not exactly sure where). Of course that's ANZAC day for us and poppies are a symbol of remembrance. Happy St Patrick's Day.

Where on earth do you find all these poems? Do you write any yourself?

I've loved the collection of doors that have been posted. Today I post an old boarded up window leaving Acebo May 2013. I have many windows and door knockers in my collection of Camino photos and like those venturing out again, I hope one day we will tread the same paths.

So they've let you out of DownUnder prison Anne & Pat. I'm equally as envious of you. Stay well, tread lightly and wave the Aussie flag. Buen Camino

Sometimes it's the tiny marvels of nature that stop us in our tracks ... lichen and fungus on trees in this case. Such beautiful forms. Camino Frances April 2013

Thank you SabineP. I wonder if they ever complete an archway of green. I love the patterns formed on the pavement. Isn't it remarkable that so many people take photos of similar objects/scenes while treading those Camino paths. I'm really enjoying seeing everyone's posts and am very envious...
