I head South in December - last year I walked from the Via Augusta (Cadiz to Seville) in a week, and this year I'll be walking the Mozarabe, Malaga to Cordoba (17th-23rd). There's no guarantee about the weather but fingers crossed it's warmer than the UK! There's always the VDLP - I walked...
A heads up for anyone planning a camino from Malaga...Whilst planning my next camino to Cordoba, I noticed that Gronze lists the various stages, distances and accommodation options (mostly available on Booking.com), but there's little to no mention of the municipal albergues that are shown in...
Just came back from walking Porto to Redondela. Stayed at 5 albergues (4 private and 1 municipal) - none had evening meals. But plenty of options in the locales. Highly recommend Seal Soul in Esposende.
Just got an e-email reply - they apologise and say they will be making a full refund with no need to return the item. So a thumbs up for their customer service.
Will do. I was surprised - but the hole is there and the socks are useless after 58kms. I'm presuming it was a manufacturing defect but let's see what their customer service is like.
Bit of feedback. Following the above positive comments above, I bought a pair of Wrightsocks Coolmesh II and 2 pairs of Decathlon Hike 520's (they are sold as a pair). I bought the Wrightsocks from alpinetrek.co.uk - although it turns out they are a German company and the socks are sent from...
Funnily enough I'm in Vigo and also walking on my own. One thing I've noticed is the high proportion of people walking in pairs/couples - husband/wife boyfriend/girlfriend etc which influences the degree of interaction. On the other hand I've seen more pligrims in the last 6 days on the...
Yes indeed. I thought maybe the house owner had re-filled some old bottles but apparently not as mine was definitely sealed. A very kind gesture that was much appreciated. Bom caminho.
Oh and a heads up on accommodation so far
Day 1 municipal albergue in Vila Cha highly recommended. 9 out of 10.
Day 2 Sea Soul Esposende - more expensive than your typical albergue but absolutely wonderful. Loads of space and really comfortable with great facilities. Definite 10 out of 10...
Yup I was of the same mind and have always used a 'fanny pack' (sorry that sounds soooo wrong to UK ears) for passport, money and cards. All easily to hand and all in the one place. Pretty secure against thieves ON the camino. BUT not so clever getting to the Camino I was recently...
As I say - it was more the comparison with the places I stayed leading up to that particular albergue. Everyone rates it and that was partly why I stayed there. Great place, but not so great for me on that particular night. It wasn't Gonzar btw.
Just a personal viewpoint (aren't they all?)...one's experience of an albergue can be influenced by a multitude of factors. A couple of (anonymised) examples:
1. Walking on my first Camino Frances, after about a week I stayed at an albergue that was amongst my worst experiences - it was full...
Last minute decision to walk the Portugues Coastal route to Redondela in a week's time. I'll be catching a train from Redondela to SdC on Sunday 16th but am having difficultly in finding details of which bus I should take from the train station to the airport. Help please (or should I just get...
