Thoughts on “Santiago - the Camino within”

I have to agree, I walked out of the movie at the second half when they were bringing in the Catholic University, so my critique is about half the movie. I thought the scenes were ok, interviews good but not note worthy and I have seen better documentation in other films. Overall to me, quite...

SJPP to Roncesvalles - your personal experience

That first day was the hardest for me. The climb to Orisson was tough, but on to Roncesvalles was even tougher. I agree with the others, the downhill hike destroyed my legs, I also ran out of water the It last 5 miles, and I was really hurting. Hindsight being what it is, If I had to do this...

Curious about the bagpiper in Santiago

I remember walking down the street towards the tunnel near the church, Pilgrims walking about, the street markets open, and hearing the echo of the bagpipes...a chill ran down my spine. What a way to finish the El Camino. Knowing that you have just arrived, you have completed your goal and are...

For coffee addicts that like to walk early

Normally, When the albergue did not have breakfast, I would walk to the next town usually within an hour or two, and order my camino breakfast-Coffee and a croissant; many times I would also splurge and get the orange juice, which was squeezed right in front of you.( Cant beat the taste of fresh...

The Camino Isn’t A Pilgrimage Anymore

The Camino is what you make of it. On that note, I think it would be hard not to encounter some spiritual progress, regardless of your spiritual intention, with the fact, you are walking the camino with many who are seeking a spiritual experience. I think the Camino can be an adventure-spiritual...

    Called to the Camino

I know how you feel. I went for a sense of adventure and spirituality, but not as a religious pilgrimage. As my departure date came closer, in the back of my mind, I was nervous and anxious. However I had a stronger desire that I had to do this. Having completed the Camino, it was one of the...

    Weight loss

I was in decent shape when I left, Once I arrived in SJPP, I eat whatever I wanted, had wine on a daily basis, and beer several times a week. Did not go with any intention of losing weight, however I lost 25 lbs. I think I need to go back.

I hated that part of the camino. Thank God, it was a sunny day, I cannot imagine how to traverse that trail if it was raining.
