Even reading the Booking feedback would have stopped me in my tracks.
Hmm.. Hard to believe. The camino is close to that place and we were not the only pilgrims. This comes under the heading of "promises, promises" (I let you know tomorrow).
A few weeks ago I was in a hurry (mistake nr. 1), reserving accommodation. I used booking.
One of the hostels I reserved was Mellow Barcelona (names can be changed, but the address is Carrer d'Aguilar 54 in Barcelona).
As pilgrims, my son and I were not looking for luxury. Mistake nr. 2: We...
Hi. Some replies suggest Duolingo. Even though I like their approach in many ways, it is fair to point out some issues you may find less helpful as a pilgrim. 1) Duolingo teaches S. American Spanish. That differs from "Spanish Spanish".
2) Duolingo has a clear mission to promote a liberal...
Hi John, Rev. Kalle Elonheimo (kalleelonheimo at gmail.com) is the person to ask. The Oxen Path from the castle in Hämeenlinna / the church of St.James in nearby Renko to the port of Turku is the Finnish Camino. I did it in 2009 on my bicycle and found then that it was not easy (or cheap) to...
Great question! For my part, I bought conchas, wrote the word "Ultreia" on them. These I gave to each (grand)child togather with a personal letter about what I hope for him or her.
I look forward to the many crestive replies you'll get!
Gracias! Normally, I am more than happy to go through life without FB or WA, but this time my wife was happy to show that sometimes FB is actually good to have ;) Ok, I left A Portela a message there.
Hi!
My email to the A Portela albergue was returned and my sms did not get an answer.
Can somebody tell me please whether the albergue is open? Gronze says it is.
After my caminos I usually feel great - like many who answered your question. I did notice that it is all too easy to fall back into old patterns. In that case I loose my camino legs in a short time. So, keep walking! (Now 72 years old, lots of caminos)
Thank you for that video! English is not my native language, so I am one of those, who are thankful for the calm and clear narration. I also appreciated the approach: let the pilgrims speak and give more background detail than the average touristic video. The video made me want to revisit...
I remember hearing the Hop bird every day on the Southern part of the Via de la Plata. On the Norte a Goldfinch. An app about wildlife and birds would be great. Best: you take a photo and the app identifies the species 🙂
Hi! I have (otherwise) thoroughly enjoyed my camino. I went via Huesca. Generally speaking, I had much luck with the weather. Nature is gorgeous. I’ll break off my camino in Sahagun. I’ll be back to finish it.
In part I agree. Of course each albergue decides whether they want to / can / are situated well enough to offer a breakfast. The fact is anyway that some do offer it. I would think it a pity if there were to be a reduction of services based on the thinking that it should not be their role. We...
I have to disagree: e.g., oatmeal with some berries cannot be much more expensive. Many would love to pay a little more. The great thing is that an effort is made, but we need to think together, suggest alternatives and not let the hospitaleros’ efforts go to waste (or worse in case of sugar)...
