    I'll turn 70 in April next year. I have a plan to travel (from Helsinki) to Lübeck and start walking from there, via Eisenach and Beaune to Le Puy-en-Velay, and then Via Podiensis. Planned it for this year already, but had to get my left hip replaced:)

    Yup, I, being a Finn, was quite surprised in 2017 after having talked about my camino plans with a Spanish squash player living in Santiago, I was leaving the tournament (ETC 2017) banquet, he met me and didn't ask, but just hugged me… A quite warm memory for me 🥰

    Camino Primitivo

    FWIW, I walked Primitivo in 2018 with barefoot shoes. They worked quite well, no problems whatsoever, though steeper descents with loose stones had to be taken with appropriate respect. This might be relevant with all types of shoes, however.

    I walked my Primitivo in Aug/Sep 2018, had no problems with accommodations. Just that in Castro I was the last one to get a bed, a fellow pilgrim arriving later slept in a tent outside, had some problems with dogs…

    Absolutely depends on the type of the shoes. I used barefoot shoes on my Primitivo, they are good almost straightaway.

    I did my Primitivo in August-September (2018), then the only albergue I should have felt more comfortable having reserved was at Castro, as I got the last bed. Otherwise no problems, but of course no pandemic at the time…
