Anyone have info on doing a Pilgrimage from Iona, Scotland to Lindisfarne, England?

Some years ago I walked with a group of friends from Melrose Abbey (where the bones of Robert the Bruce are buried) to Lindisfarne. Because we were a group we rented a place and with shuttle cars we returned back home every evening until the last day. We crossed the bay in bare feet to...

Le Puy to Conques October - Trip Report

I walked Le Puys to Conques in June 2017 in 9 days and very hot weather. I would like to continue but am not sure how to get to Conques except retracing my step and catching a bus from LePuys to Conques in order to start there. Any thoughts on this? Thank you.

    Portuguese Camino

I just returned from the CAMINO Portuguese from Lisbon to Santiago. Went along the coast from Porto Northwards and it was stunning. Most of the sends litoral is finished with boardwalk and only a couple of places were on hard sand. Stunning beaches; even went swimming once(cold water though!)...

    Where to get walking sticks?

At Decatlon they cost 5 euros a pole, I.e. 10 euros for a pair but in addition you must get the rubber cork for the end so that your stick does not get caught in paving stones(as mine did on the Portuguese) or you can buy those corks at home beforehand. Check the Decathlon website before you...

Poles don't fit in checked luggage!

I left my poles at home and bought new ones at Decathlon for 10 euros the pair (5 euros each). Well worth it!

The new and cleaned up Cathedral

Gorgeous! I was in Santiago on a Spanish course in 1995 before scaffolding so was quite shocked when I completed my first Camino in 2016. I am looking forward to seeing the beautiful cathedral all cleaned up on my next Camino this September. Thank you Ivan for sharing those photos.

    Packing List - What's missing?

I didn't bother with rope or strings and on the Camino lost a garment tied with a clothes pin, so I replaced the clothes pin with a safety pin and had no problem afterwards. Also I am a light sleeper so ear plugs are an essential for me (and for many people due to snoring in the dorm), as well...

    Undecided...

Most places I stayed were private homes opened to pilgrims and they provided a meal so did not permit cooking. However, a couple of places were run by somebody in the village who opened and closed the house and there was a kitchen where I could cook. The best thing is enquire when you make a...

    Undecided...

I walked Le Puys to Conques alone last June in 40 degrees temperature. Met some lovely people but not many and there was no problem with reserving hostels as most were private and expensive compared to Spain. You will have no problem with the steep parts of the path as you are used to them, but...
