Caution of Ignoring "Listen to your body" rule

A very good posting- pain is the body’s method of communicating with your frontal lobes ie the bits that make the decisions. If you cut off the pain signals with painkillers you can do more damage. My Camino ended in Leon due to plantar fasciitis it took 2 years to completely heal. It was caused...

    Prep year planning group

I’ve often thought about this issue as each individual has their own unique needs and so we all need to look at how our individual needs impact on others including the need to go to bed early/late or get up early/late.

    Second Camino Route Opinions

How interesting to read this, as I walked from SJPP to Leon 5 years ago and am now wondering whether to walk Leon to Santiago or carry on to Finisterre. Each Camino experience is unique.

    Prep year planning group

I’m facilitating a prep year planning group that meets monthly for a small group of u3a members who want to do the Camino one day possibly Sep/Oct 2022. We meet monthly and have had two meetings to date. Each month we tackle a different topic so far we’ve looked at 1. Footwear and rucksacks and...

    Hello from a Canadian newbie

My one tip is to wear boots one size bigger than usual as your feet will swell and not deflate as you’re walking every day. I went from a size 39 (6) to a 42 (7.5) also take flip flops for the showers.

    Voice sound recording your trip

Ha ha I only posted this morning so very early days for replies I think. I’m interested in Soundscapes as these days we’re so obsessed with the visual image and history as represented by past images.

    Voice sound recording your trip

How about doing something a little different, like taking a voice recorder or even better sound recording equipment. I recorded daily the various sounds, discussions, my thoughts along the Way of St James, I stopped injured at Leon intending to come back one day to continue. I had initially...

LIVE from the Camino SJPP to SdC

You’ll need to stay in Biarritz I think overnight then catch the train to SJPP the next morning or change your flight time. We arrived at SJPP then queued along the wall at 2pm to check into the Albergue and start your experience with chatting to other walkers. We then started our walk the next...

Finding my feet on CF. First time and Solo.

What a lovely post full of hope and excitement, I hope you find what you seek but most of all the parts of you that you feel you've lost. However little you pack once on the Camino it will seem too much, I learnt this the hard way posting 1.5 kg home after two weeks on the path.... I'll...

What really is the pilgrim experience?

There is no 'the pilgrim experience' I'm focussing on 'the' as a definitive article .... each person enjoys their experiences in their own way. I'm accepting of the expensive no scuff tribe who are equally acceptable as the woven flax body blanket folks. What's the issue here? It's about...
