I got many blisters on the Camino. I went to a hospital and they carefully cleaned & drained my blisters. Then put on some healing cream and covered it. They told me to rest for 3 days, take the anti-inflamatory pills, then I could walk again using the padded gauze they gave me.
I also...
I tried all the remedies: Vaseline, glide, powder, sock liners, tape, different shoes, sandals, different socks, etc... I got blisters under blisters 3-5 deep. Finally had to go to the hospital to Lance & clean. I stayed off my feet for 3 days to heal, then I had to walk slower & shorter...
I had simular in 2017. Swollen, red feet that felt very hot. I went to the hospital and was treated for tendinitis (anti-imflamatory, ice & 3-days rest) I also got a full size larger shoes, cooling socks and foot powder. I was better after resting, icing, drugs after 3-days and finished my...
I got that test from Walgreens drive thru prior to flying to Hawaii... very quick (around 5 hrs from test to results), I recieved a scan code by text message, that I uploaded to the Hawaii website. In the airport they scanned the code, gave me a wristband and all good...
I had planned on starting in SJ but after a flight from San Francisco to Madrid and then a train ride to Pamplona, I was tired of travel, so I just starting walking in Pamplona after a good night's sleep. After meeting other Pilgrims who had started in SJ and hearing how muddy and exhausting...
The pure joy of accomplishment and the comradery of all types, ages and nationalities of pilgrims. I am not a believer in religion, however I am a spiritual being. I loved the personal challenge, which wasn't really that difficult and its super fun for those with an adventurous, gypsy soul.
My routine worked its way out as I went along CF in April 2017: I showered as soon as I got my bed arranged, washed out my bra & undies in the shower, dressed for evening and sleep, hung out my undies&bra to dry, ate dinner, socialized, then got my backpack, maps and next days clothes ready (set...
Spanish coffee is more like Espresso that coffee, so you don't need as much. Tastes way better than anything I've had in USA...cheap, so if you need more, but a couple. You can get black "cafe", with cream, "cafe con lecha" or American style, "cafe Americano" (which has hot water added to it...
Don'tbe too harsh, maybe some people's muscle seize up overnight on those tiny bunks and require hot water to get moving again. Not all of us have young, supple or friendly morning muscles.
I spent a lot at REI getting ready, tossed a lot of it there and bought two pairs of shoes there before my feet were happy. You can get everything there that you need.
Nothing magical about the Camino and finding love. The magic happens when the person you chose to love, choses to love you in return.
Attractions are fleeting, fickle and tons of fun, but often end when it comes time to chose to love when the attraction is no longer so powerful.
I didn't care for the communally bedrooms on the Camino so I stayed in private rooms or hotels along the way. Even the private rooms were incredibly cheap compared to even cheap motels in the USA - so it was an easy decision for me.
No worries, you will quickly figure out what you really need within the first few days of carrying all that stuff on your back. Then you will either gut it out and carry it all, hire a service to haul your stuff to the next stop, or you'll remove about 1/3 OF YOUR stuff via to the garbage can...
I started with 18 pounds, I am 57 yr old women over 200 pounds. It was too heavy for me so I got it transported for a week until I got a little more conditioned. Then I slimmed it down to 12 pounds and shipped excess stuff to Santiago and picked it up there at the end of my journey.
Food on the camino did its job and I was so hungry that I appreciated each and every meal. But after a few weeks I was craved vegtables and a plain piece of meat. I lost 18 pounds abd dropped two sizes in clothing, but gained on size in shoes.
It is a statue! Don't you think the cathedral in Santiago (as well as many others throughout other countries) profit from the pilgrims? I was sickened more by the fact you have to pay the church somewhere around $500 euros to have the incense swung at mass. And I wasnt happy that the original...
