    That's a lot of vinegar......

Leaving SdC back to Pamplona with my dog

Blablacar. I had numerous inquiries with pets when I offered rides in France. Most times I took them

Record number of Compostelas issued this year - and its not over yet!

Layman's opinion on my neighbors. And Brazilians, Koreans. HAPE Kerkeling wrote the most successful non fiction book since WW II "Ich bin dann mal weg" about his Jakobsweg. That brought tons of Germans to the Camino. Paolo Coelho did the same for Brazilians and Koreans. I might be wrong...

    November Camino - (F) alone?

I've enjoyed the solo day walking and evening meet ups during my two November trails. A young pilgrim from the Boston area stood out with her promise of a Thanksgiving feast. What she did not tell us.....it will be vegan. Much laughter that evening. Seriously I should have known, where would...

    Valcarlos/Burguete or Borda/ Roncesvales?

October 22. Borda sold out, so Valcarlos it will be. Stayed there before, I was not THAT snorer, but be forewarned.....

    Kitchens not in use

I partially agree. Grateful I always was. Did I grumble at certain things? Certainly did. In sum, both my Caminos were truly great and I am thankful for every volunteer working. You lost me with your low price argument tho. BTW, one shall not shoot the messenger (OP in that case)

May/June or September/October on the Camino Frances?

I walked in November and the Mesetas did remind me of the drive from Calgary to Saskatoon indeed. But. The experience of the Camino with so few people made up for any fauna/flora shortcomings. Locals had more time to yak it up really, though the selection fo open Albergues decreases at the end...

Driving to start of Camino Frances

I am arriving by car as well and contacted the tourism office. Their reply below: You have 2 options: contrôle auto Donibane, chemin de la Nasse 00.33.5.59.37.11.75 ; they propose secured parking, inside 6€/day and outside 3€/day free parking "Les Fauvettes", you need to inform the police...

    Rideshare October from Austria

As I was looking at all my options to get from rural Austria to SJPP, I decided driving is best for me. Therefore with a bit of an advance notice, I'll be leaving October 16th, 2022 from the general Linz area. Pick up points could be along the way , Salzburg, Innsbruck, Switzerland to Basel...

    Tipping on the Camino

Ah the tipping discussion. Been on both sides of if for most of my adult life as a server as well as a guest. Decades ago it was a profession to be a waiter in Europe, tips were scarce. Things are changing and a somewhat American habit starts to creep in. I always tip, but more out of habit...

Preparing for My First Camino Journey: Question about Microspikes in April

The very nice host of this website, Ivar, has (had) a luggage storage in Santiago. Used his services twice, always perfect.

Camino “families” - how cliquey or impenetrable are they mid-way through a Camino?

On my first Camino I walked alongside this group of genuinely happy people. Not the whole way, but on and off we would meet up again and yes, the group dynamics described were there. Not overly so, but the odd event would make one go, Hmmmm. I am still in touch with a few of them five years on...

    14 April 2022 SJPDP - Santiago - Fisterra

Two culinary experiences from two previous Caminos. -Umm no solo Tapas in Logrono. You can still enjoy the mushroom caps and tater tots as recomened per other poster, then get your fill at this place. -O Tobo Do Lobo in Melide. Skip the Pulpo tradition in town, you can get it anywhere. I...

    Accommodation in Paris

Hotel Parisiana, 21 Rue de Chabrol, 75010 Paris, France. I've stayed here myself. Walking distance from GdN, right next to Marche Saint Quentin, a covert market hall and yes, GdN area is grungy, but also has some of the best Indian food in (continental) Europe.
