OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Airline refund on cancellation ?

We got ours tickets on KLM, a flight to Madrid on 26 March. They will allow a flight reschedule until 31 May, or are offering a voucher that is good for up to one year. The tickets were originally non-refundable, so that seems more than fair to me.

StJPdP to Finisterre in 30 Days - Sample Itinerary?

I'm planning to go from SJPDP to Santiago in 27 days, here's the tentative plan for that. Add 3 days to Finisterre, and something similar might work for you. It comes out to about 18.5 miles a day average. The days with * have lots of altitude gain. 1 SJPDP - Roncesvalles - 25km *** 2...

    How to get to Roncesvalles

Hi Lasse, Welcome. I'm doing my first camino this year as well. If you have the time to spare, it's usually cheaper to fly into Madrid instead of Pamplona, as it's a more major hub. Then you can take a direct train from Madrid to Pamplona. I'm going in April, and in my case, direct flights...

    Easter start

The alternate route doesn't go to Orrison, but it does go through Arneguy and Valcarlos. They both end up in Roncesvalles.

    Hot coffee in Spain?

Silly question: I've been watching you-tube videos about Spain, in preparation for my first camino this spring. In one video about about cultural differences between Spain and the UK/USA, the guy said that Spaniards prefer to drink their coffee warm rather than hot. He said even if you ask...

A New Adventure is on The Way

Buen camino Mike. First timer here too, but only 86 days. Leap year makes the wait a day longer. :(

    19 Days, St Jean | Dec 2019 - Jan 2020

The pilgrim's office is closed on 1 Jan and 25 Dec. Keep that in mind if you intend to get a compostela.

How do you travel with money on the Camino?

First timer here, what do you do as far as having small bills on hand after visiting the ATM? Are albergues and other places willing to make change for big bills? At least here in the States, if I go to an ATM and pull out say $400, it will give it to me all in $50 increments.

    Frances in 27 days?

Easter is April 12th. Will a lot of the albergues be closed until then? I didn't consider that possibility, I thought they'd be open by early April.

    Frances in 27 days?

Thanks everyone for the feedback, lots of good thoughts here. :)

    Frances in 27 days?

I've booked the flight for my first camino which I'll be doing with my brother, late March to late April in 2020. After accounting for travel time from and to Madrid, we'll have 27 actual days to walk. I would have preferred to have more days, but 4 weeks was most my brother could get away...
