I also sugest that planning your journey alone is the best. You will met many other pilgrims also walking alone...and very quickly you will recognisse the person or persons that walk like you, are in the same circle if thought that you and you will feel that magic, unexpected pilugrim bonding...
I flew Barcelona to San Sebastian with Vueling last April (~40 eu one way) and walked from the airport to Irun (30 min) or you can take a bus from the airport...
The lighther your pack is, the more you will enjoy your walk. I always aim at my pack weighting ~7kg 9 kg maximum
You don't need much, specially walking in the summer. Clothes dry quickly and a sleeping linner would be enough at nights. No need for a tent while walking the camino's in Spain...
I think it all depends if you start on the norte and complete the Norte through Gijon or if you take the Primitivo varient. The Primitivo is through the mountains and very beautiful, much more challenging...the Norte through Gijon very little inclines....
I just returned from the camino del Norte. You can buy a lught weight sleeping bag, for a goid price at any Decatlon stores. There us obe in San Sebastian, Bilbao, Santander, Oviedo.... Buen Camino!
I just returned from the camino del Norte and there are beautuful beaches that you will cross. I used my black underware and a black camisol...it looks just like a triquini...and very useful other times, during your walk. Enjoy, the beaches to swim or to relax at the end of the day, beautiful...
I am walking the norte now, in two weeks had one only very heavy raini windy day...the rest sun, cloud, light rain....it is beautiful. Don't let the weather stop you...as it is unpredictable... Buen camino !!
Hello Isabeila, I will be starting the Nirte en Irun on the 4 !! I have been reading about it and it is in beggining of April that most albergues open, specially this year being after Easter. Looking forward to meeting you along the way !!!
It is very hard to predict the weather, last year was so hot, I also encountered snow two days after 35 +c weather...but very little rain.
The camino will guide you don't worry too much in advance...it will all work out.
