Judging Fitness Level
I'm 65 and preparing for my first Camino. I've worked out 'religiously' for the past 6 months and have made good progress. Doing mostly weight training for leg and torso strength and muscle endurance with occasional brisk walks. Six months ago I could walk 3 miles at a 16 min/mile pace. Now...- HJD

Hike Similar to First Day of Camino Frances
I'm working to get in shape for my first Camino. I live in flatland (New Orleans). Can someone suggest a one or two-day hike somewhere in the US that would be similar in difficulty to the first day of the Camino from SJPdP?- HJD

Starting in Late Aug
I want to avoid the summer heat and Aug crowds, but need to be back home in late Sept. I'm conjecturing that in late August most ofthe August vacationers would be approaching Santiago and the crowds might be much lighter in St. Jean and hopefully the rest of the way as the main crunch would be...- HJD
