    Packing cubes or dry sacks?

I think Nekodemus has a typo. Should be Dutchwaregear.com. Dutch makes fabulous UL things for hammock hangers. (Typo is Durch...)

    Bla Bla Car

My June 2017 payment was (like Uber) via the credit card I registered when I joined. A previous poster paid the driver directly but I'm guessing that was not how it's supposed to work. Not sure how it was done because if you locate the ride through BlaBlaCar, the rest of the process should be...

    Bla Bla Car

Forgot something. When you input your info you're asked if you like to ride in quasi silence, like a bit of conversation, or whether you like a lot of chatting. Are you a "BLA" "BLA BLA" or "BLA BLA BLA" person? Hence the name of the company.

    Bla Bla Car

I used BBC from SDC to Madrid in June 2017. I wanted to experience "all" modes of transport. Worked great. You subscribe and enter your profile and, if u wish, a photo (I sent a picture directly to the driver). This allows you to view rides offered, the driver's profile, and past passengers...

    CPAP machine for sleep apnea

How about using taxi service for the cpap ? I've read it costs about €3-5/day.

    Hostel in madrid

And I'll heartily recommend The Hat. It's a very short walk to the Plaza Mayor and not far from Puerta del Sol and the Sol metro. The decor is industrial chic. 220 beds. If you want to socialize they have a very active happy hour as well as a rooftop terrace with a restaurant. They also...

Beware B4 Booking Motion Chueca Hstl Madrid!

I didn't go back. I just stayed longer. Your figures come to €132 + 8 for breakfasts = €140. My bill was €160. If you add €104, 20, 14, and 12 it's 150 plus 8 for breakfasts it comes to €158. This is rounding out the .99s. Not sure if IVA was extra or included. Looks as if I'll HAVE to find...

Beware B4 Booking Motion Chueca Hstl Madrid!

PRECISELY. it doesn't have to make sense. It is what it is. Gouging. Couldn't find the breakdown invoice in the first bundle of papers I looked but here's the booking for the first four days. And (I repeat) it was something like €20, 104, 13, 11 plus €8 for 4 breakfasts and, I imagine, some...

Beware B4 Booking Motion Chueca Hstl Madrid!

Nope. I have the breakdown/invoice. They told me that they charged €124 PER BUNK in the 14-bunk dorms during special events. €60 was for an ordinary Saturday in a 6-bunk female dorm. Whatever the market will bear. I don't recommend Motion Chueca. Don't like their business practices.

El Caminito de Santiago en Caracas July 15, 2017

Hola. Voy a escribir en inglés. I just got back (to Miami, Florida) from 4 weeks sightseeing in Spain. The plan was to try and walk at least a part of the Camino Inglés. NOT!! I took the bus from A Coruña to SDC: one hour. My mother and brother live in Caracas. She's 95 and I haven't seen her...

Beware B4 Booking Motion Chueca Hstl Madrid!

I'm back (in Miami) after 4 weeks sightseeing in Spain. That was my first attempt at Booking.com and I was worried that I wouldn't find anything. I did see "non refundable " as I clicked Book. It was my fault. Still I don't like that non-refundable MO. Motion Chueca wasn't bad but it wasn't...

    Heat warning

Greetings from Sevilla where it registered 49°C (120° F!!!). (I saw the digital thermometer on someone's computer.) yesterday June 16, 2017. I went out this morning but it was too hot to stand in line for tickets for Cathedral and Alcázar.

Beware B4 Booking Motion Chueca Hstl Madrid!

300 for TWO nights!! I've been charged $182 ($176 plus conversion fees I imagine) so I'm going to suck it up and hope for the best. Online booking requires capturing all your personal and card info before you find out whether it's non-refundable. Then you'd have to find the name of the...

    Clothing etc ID labels

I'm sitting here sewing and gluing clothing ID labels to my clothes and gear. (Think what some moms attached to summer camp clothing.) I got 100 for $18 at starlight labels (in the US). I chose sew-on. Unlike the old woven material kind, these feel almost plastic/paper-like so there's a bit of...

    Rain gear needed in June?

I've read about April showers but what should I take in the way of outerwear for the whole month of June: Madrid, CI and then ? Breathable hooded rain jacket? Rain pants? Thin windbreaker? Lightweight fleece jacket? I guess the real question is what I can safely leave behind. Am I likely to...

What's the least daily distance feasible?

Kindred soul here but only as far as the arthritis and hip replacement (10 years but sometimes it hurts when I walk). No really active background but I have a yen to hit the trail. I've set the bar so low that my goal is to TRY and do the Camino Inglés in early June (2017). My goal is 10km...

Beware B4 Booking Motion Chueca Hstl Madrid!

Thanks for all the input. I admitted it was my fault because i did see non-refundable but I panicked because I leave on June 1st. My warning was not to book with a non-refundable place because you never know why u might want to change dates (they wouldn't do that either) or cancel (and they...

Beware B4 Booking Motion Chueca Hstl Madrid!

I would appreciate tips on booking hostels online. I arrive in Madrid on June 2 and due to numerous complications, I only tried to reserve yesterday. My first choice (The Hat) had no availability so I started to feel panicky. Via Booking.com I picked Motion Chueca Hostel. One bunk in a 6-bed...

Changes to rules for the Compostela from A Coruña

Wonderful news. This also simplifies the logistics from Madrid.
