We walked there about a week ago. Stayed at albergue Rojo Plata. You get the key at Bar Cafe Rojo, despite the note "closed "on the door. Nothing to complain. The albergue Turistico has been closed now for years, they told in the town.
Nice to meet You DeansFamily today on route. Like to tell all the others on VdlP, that the albergue Rojo Plata in Torremejia is under renovacion, (cerrado), BUT if you go to Cafe Bar Rojo on the main road, you get the key to albergue. The owner is so wellcoming, and the menu at bar is exellent...
We also had an exellent menu there 25th april for 8€/person. If you are late, and the bar is closed, try to find the lady. She offered us to come in the evening, too, if needed.
Staying today Zamora albergue. Was Completo 16.30 . There are 32 beds, and more peregrinos seeking bed at hostals later on the street. Busy on VdlP.
We walked 4,5 weeks on camino Sureste/Levante and only saw 4 pilgrims together. What a surprise to meet this croud here.
Arrived from both Primitivo and Norte a few days ago. There were not any working to be seen on Primitivo, but Works of driving crush were going on on Norte after Vilalba, in Guitiriz county.
I don't believe, it's possible to walk on the mountain paths in December: There is snow on knee level already now on the mountain area. Only way to walk is on the roads, and I think it's not the meaning to do the Camino. Private hostels will be open, but it's necessary to reserve a day...
TV news told a moment ago, there was snowing a lot today on the mountains on Primitivo route. Hope it’s not lasting long, I’ m lucky to be in Santiago tomorrow
It also depends on the wave of pilgrims. If the number of pilgrims reduse suddenly, they may take the advantage to close. But you always find a place to sleep and eat.
Nothing against Almeria option, but I think the Malaga option is easyer. We loved it last February March. My opinion considering Almeria is based on your stories on the road. Hi to all from The Norte ( Aviles today)
Arrived Lugo yesterday. Primitivo is tough, but survived without pains. Many of my caminofamily had big difficoulties with legs. Some had even use a taxi for last etapas. I’m so happy to be able walk the the Hospitales in fantastic weather. And the next days serpentine after La Mesa was great , too
Hi Beatrice. We walked after the embalse the mountain way without any problem. Nothing to do with the railway contruction. And the albergue in Canaveral is great.
Buen camino
We did the Santa Amalia option and stayed there at a new hostel just alongside the plaza. Don’t remember the name, as I’m on camino now without my notes regaring Mozarabe
We ( my wife and I ) walked 31.3 - 5.5. 2017 from Lisbon to SDC. The weather could not be better. Only a few soft rain showers in three days. Cool wind on coastal route was lovely. No difficoulties in finding accomodations that time.
Bom Caminho
Btw. we are quite the same age as you both.
