    Outdated credential

I had my credencial for 5 years and couldn't use it due to illness, injury and Covid! But it is ok to use. People use the same credencial if they walk their Camino in stages over a number of years. Have a great time!

    Sarria to SDC Poles/sticks?

I found hiking poles to be great. They give stability and don't make you tired. If you're used to walking with them, use them.

    On line reservations for accommodations

Don't be concerned. They keep your reservations and you just pay when you get there. I never had an issue with this.

Ok entering the shoe debate with trepidation ...

I can only speak from my own experience as an Aussie (familiar hiking in heavy leather Redback hiking boots) walking the Camino last year from SJPDP to Santiago, Finisterre and Muxia. I wore trail-running shoes. Big mistake! Boots give far more support, and at times this is needed. If you're...

What to do different next time?

    1. Wear boots, not shoes. 2. Have rest days in major towns/cities and explore them more I flew into Paris too (from Australia) then caught the train to Bayonne, then one to SJPDP. Did you start your Camino from Madrid, or travel back to SJPDP and start there? I'd be interested to hear what...

    SJPDP-SDC in 32 days-is this realistic?

Yes, it is doable...if all goes to plan! Although 32 days is a very fast journey, and one which would require a very good level of fitness and good health. However, with all the best intentions, things don't always go to plan. On my Camino in May last year, illness and injuries struck which put...

    Documenting the Journey

I took LOTS of photos and posted the best on Instagram and wrote daily on the posts of the places I visited, towns and albergues I stayed at and a few personal things, mainly to jog my memory when i got back. Some people take a journal and write heaps but I found there was so much to see and...

    How many days

I just finished the Camino Frances. The time it takes depends solely on you. For example, how fit you are, to complete the kilometres you want to in a day. Or how many rest days you want to take. If you aren't limited for time,I would take rest days in bigger places like Pamplona, Burgos, Leon...

My plan is not to have a plan, is that the point of the Camino?

I'm just about to finish the Camino Frances ( started at SJPDP). My best advice to you (and this is recent experience): Wear boots (not shoes, as I did). There are rough uneven paths and boots will definitely give you more stability. People do wear shoes hiking but I will never again. Make sure...

Mid 70 Male & Potential Issues

Your concern for others regarding your getting up at night is refreshing. Don't even worry about it. Just be quiet, use a red torch if needed. Most people will have earplugs anyway so won't hear a thing. Your getting up is nothing to the racket I've just experienced in albergues from people...

Which Naturehike model did you select?

How do you train for the Camino?

Hi. There have been some other posts I've read on training for the Camino. One of the best was that when you have organized all you will take, pack, shoes etc., try it all out in good weather AND rainy weather. Best tip if you dont want to end up a soggy mess on your walk if your rain gear isnt...

How do you train for the Camino?

Probably some of the best advice I've read on this forum; especially with regard to testing all your gear on both a dry day and a rainy day before doing your Camino.
