Days 6-8:
Baiona- Vigo- Redondela- Pontevedra
We now join the main Portuguese route and it is lovey to see more pilgrims, yellow arrows, roadside stand, and dirt paths. The dirt is so much nice on our feet than the cobblestone and boardwalks! I have loved every town on this route and especially...
Day 5: We crossed into Spain via water taxi this morning after staying in a little mobile home on the river. Today we also had to take a short bus then we will be caught up to only walk the rest of the days. We stop in Baiona tonight.
Now a bit controversial maybe: I’ll preface by saying I know...
Day 2
Labruge- Povoa de Varzim 15 km
We stayed at the Junqueira 76 guesthouse which was great and had an evening at the beach. I know it’s not everyone’s style on here, but we’ve decided to stay in mostly private rooms this time. For two girls we just feel more comfortable and we do not feel...
Hello all! After a few days stranded in airports and a couple days exploring beautiful Porto we are now at our first albergue in Labruge.
25 km day and absolutely stunning scenery on the senda litoral. Tomorrow will be a shorter day then we will alternate. There were not nearly as many pilgrims...
Your videos are beautiful. I leave in a week for the coastal route, my second Camino but very anxious this time around and they eased my anxiety a lot thank you :)
Thank you for the tips, definitely planning on a day in Porto before beginning. It looks gorgeous.
Do you need to book the water taxi ahead of time or is it pretty available? Thank you.
I am wondering if nights in June are colder on the coastal route than others. On the Frances I brought only a sleeping bag liner and was fine but with COVID I know there will not be spare blankets. What did you use for sleeping on the coastal route?
I booked mine for June the night before the new restrictions dropped this week. Definitely a yikes moment in the morning. Hopefully we are both able to safely make it work!
After much wonderful advice from everyone here on what to do for my second Camino, I have just booked my flights for the Portuguese Coastal Way in June ‘22.
Any words of wisdom from solo walkers or those who have done the coastal route would be greatly appreciated!
Wow thank you all so much for the thoughtful responses! I can’t respond to each one but they have helped very much. I believe I am going to do the Portuguese Coastal route this time then explore France afterwards. I am a teacher so I will have many chances in the future to come back in summer...
I walked from Leon to Santiago when I was 19 with a group of friends. I am considering a solo/partly solo trek next year but need advice on which section to walk. I am thinking 2 weeks to try out solo.
Option 1: Re-walk the same section, now solo and older
Option 2: Start at St. Jean Pied de...
