I exchanged dollars for euros at AAA before I left. Found some hidden euros on return home so took it to one bank that exchanged foreign money to dollars.. takes a few days for the exchanges.

My suggestion to enjoy the first day's walk
1 transport your 'heavy' backpack to Roncesvalles & use a light day pack, 2 just carry water & snacks, 3 enjoy the scenery & people walking with you. Your back, joints & feet will not be so sore at the end of the day, because the second day is similar...
I just finished Camino the end of May. And decided I would return after the holy year. I do want to attend the Pilgrim Mass, then walk on to the 0 kilimeter marker. Saving my money now.
I think it was a low cloud that appears as a lake. I thought I saw a lake and as I went on the curve of the path and looked again I realized it was a cloud.
