Wish I'd read your post 3months ago.... After doing the francaise in may we decided to do the Portuguese in September..... Not enjoyable in the least.. Cobblestones for several hundred kms, bad signage, few albergues, no recognition that you're actually a pilgrim up to Porto and so few pilgrims...
The albergue have said that the man in question was given a pacemaker and had been conscious after the operation, but haven't heard anything since, so fingers crossed
Hi Jimmy, have now returned from Portugal and we stayed in Grijo AND had the meal cooked by the caretakers wife... Fabulous! We didn't enjoy the first part of the Camino, mainly because of the cobblestone and lack of signs that we were actually on a pilgrimage, but after Porto it was better...
Sad news today, I am walking the Portuguese Camino, staying in. Pontevedra and an English guy around 60yrs had a massive heart attack and fell from on his top bunk last night and was dead for at least 10 minutes. Paramedics came eventually and go his heart going again after another 10 minutes...
Oh dear... I've decided to wear lightweight trail-trainers this time as my walking boots are heavy and I got so many blisters while on the Spanish Camino... Now I'm having 2nd thoughts!
Having completed the Spanish Camino in June we've decided to do another.... Lisbon to Santiago then finnistere leaving on the 5th September.... Any tips, advisories or favourite aubergue as I understand it will be very different from the last one?

Ben camino!

So, Ive been training for 6 weeks now, getting up to a couple of 4-5 milers during the week plus a couple of 10-12 milers at weekends and have been so pleased my feet haven't suffered despite having a small corn on my third toe of left foot. I managed to get rid of this completely, but after the...
Ok, I'm now happy about cows having read lots of posts, but I'm a tad worried about the possibility of meeting bears over the Pyrenees....any experiences?
