Does anyone know the status of the albergues that were being planned for Betanzos and Sigueiro? Will they open in 2010? I plan on starting from El Ferrol on May 24, 2010.
Thanks,
Ken Reid
Does anyone know how big of a celebration there will be in Santiago for Penecost this year which is on May 23rd? I will be in Santiago that day. I have attended other Pentecost celebrations in Italy and Germany and it was a really big deal there. If anyone knows, please let me know.
Thanks...
Re: English - Galego Phrase Book
I received my English/Galego/Spanish phrase book in the mail today. I find it always makes a better impression to try to speak even a little of the local language.
Re: English - Galego Phrase Book
Well,
too late now. The book is on it's way. I'm just happy to get it at all. Amazon UK tried to get it from the Xunta for six months without success. I tried looking around the Xunta site but could not find anything on the phrase book.
Re: English - Galego Phrase Book
Thanks very much. I discovered this link late last night after posting my first message. I placed an order but have not heard anything back. You would think that plenty of copies would be available since it is now a holy year.
I've been trying to get a copy of the English - Gallego Phrase Book put out by the Xunta de Gallica but I can't find it anywhere on line. I had it on order from Amazon.UK for 6 months and they finally notified me that they can't get it. Does anyone have any idea how I can track it down?
Hi All,
It's the cost, plus ignorance. I just priced my plane ticket from Michigan in the US to Madrid in May of 2010. It is $1,120.00. It's not that easy to pop over on a moments notice for a nice walk. Then I have to pay to fly to Santiago. The cheap flights do not match my flight...
Hi Sil,
Thanks for the tips. I just ordered both. However, I could not find the calendar on the National Gallery web site but I did find it on calendars.com. Free shipping in the US if you e-mail the web site page to friends. I ordered the book from the Barnes & Noble web site and they were...
I have seen the beautiful Xacobeo PDF guides on the internet but now I can't seem to find them. Does anyone know the link to download these guides? I searched the Xacobeo blog site but I just could not find them.
Thanks, Ken R.
Now planning on doing the Camino Ingles with three others the last week of May 2010 and then do one or two weeks by car around Northern Spain. I haven't done any hiking in Europe like this since the summer of 1969 so I am already trying to get in shape. But, it's tough when you are a geezer.
Hello Johnnie Walker,
As an expert, I would like your opinion. I have a friend who wants to walk the Camino Frances from Sarria to Santiago in late March of 2010. From what I've read, it will be cold and very rainy then; plus crowded because of the holy week (not to mention the holy year). I...
Thanks so much for the tips!! Getting the Compostela is very important to some members of our group (5 or 6). We will have to put up with the crowds from Sarria. Another question is the necessity of a sleeping bag. If we were to stay at Albergues and Refugios, is bedding provided or do you...
I will be traveling the Camino Frances in April 2010. We are a group with little experience. Therefore, we only wish to do the minimum of 100 KM. What is the best place to start a 100 KM pilgrimage?
Ken R.
