We started in St. Jean on April 11 this year in a blizzard from the top of the big hill all the way into Roncesvalles. It was crazy. Then rain for a couple of days and after that, great weather except for one day of really windy, cold rain on a later day. It gives you some great memories though...
We just flew Ryan Air to Madrid from there and it was fine. We went to the Hotel Senator Barajas near the Madrid airport the day before and walked to dinner in the cute neighborhood nearby where there are a lot of good options for dinner. The hotel has a free shuttle to the airport the next...
The Norte is spectacular as is the Camino Portuguese and I can tell you that right now it is very crowded on the Frances as we are in Leon and just have a fairly short amount left up to Sarria because we have done that last bit before. I shudder to think of how many people will be walking from...
If you want an incredible experience you should definitely hike the Camino de Costa Rica!! It is an amazing experience with gorgeous scenery, wonderful people, delicious food and quite a challenging hike!
Andaspain is fantastic! We have done three trips with them and are leaving on April 9 for another self guided one with them. They do an excellent job!!
We were super happy with Andaspain and never had a moments trouble with our luggage getting where it needed to go or with the places they arranged for us to stay. As I said earlier, we are planning to go on another Camino with them this coming year and have been on three other trips with them...
You cannot do better than Andaspain! We have gone on three caminos with them and are going again in April! They are so great at helping your Camino be exceptional!
You definitely need a guide. I cannot imagine being able to do it without one. It is so wonderful though and the people are so nice, scenery is spectacular and the food was delicious.
Definitely go in the winter (meaning winter in the US) because it would be too hot in the summer I would think and also rainy. February or March would be ideal. It is fantastic. Quite a challenge too. Ticos A Pata is the guide service we used and they were unbelievably great!!
