I have a Moto G4 Plus. Amazing phone at reasonable price. I am very pro camera but I have to say this Moto phone camera is really good. This coming camino may be the last I take a camera along...
Hi all. My wife and I a excited to be leaving for Porto next month to do the Camino Portugues.
Question - Anyone know of a place in Porto where inexpensive hiking poles can be purchased?
We have our own poles but it is a bit of a hassle to bring along on flights as well as not really...
My wife and I will be walking Porto Camino in the fall and interested in shipping small amount of extra travel gear from Porto to SDC. Thanks for the postal shipping info Swift3. Do you recall the cost to ship using the postal service?
Can anyone recommend a map or mapbook for this route?
I see the John Brierly map guide for Camino Portugues includes the coastal option but wondering if this has the same detail as the inland route?
Many thanks, Randy
Hi Karen. I cycled the camino last May/June and did not have any troubles finding a bed every night. The rules around cyclists being unable to book into albergue until late in the day to give preference to walkers seems to apply to the municipal albergues and he private ones were quite happy...
I like Schwalbe Marathons. Not the lightest but tough and good tread pattern for paved or dirt roads or easy trails. Only flat on the way to SDC train station from old town on very last day in Spain.I enyoyed the quiet roads which followed the camino and dirt road meseta sections of the camino...
No problems for me when I cycled the Camino in May/June of this year. I generally started early (0630-0730hrs) and so ended early (1330-1500 hrs) and I always found a room or bed. Always provided with secure storage area for bike but good policy to lock it anyways...
I have used the Olympus TG-2 waterproof point and shoot camera for two years and am thrilled with results. Good lens quality, good low light, flash, lots of option, video, good battery, etc. All in a compact package which is completely waterproof so there is never a worry about using in the...
I found wifi very common in albergues, hotels, cafes, etc. Password provided once I booked in or ordered a meal. It is free in Pamplona's main square. I carried a cheap 7" Samsung tablet that was invaluble to me for blogging, email, backing up photos, books, but not so valuable if lost or...
Absolutely agree Newfydog - courtesy and patience. I found when catching up to walkers I would sound my bell well back to notify but not alarm them and then slow right down and pass when possible. Courtesy begets courtesy. I found with the wind blowing in their ears and hoods pulled up the...
Fopgot one - a kick stand. Lots of serious bikes would never consider a stand (one time me included) being uncool and extra weight. It is just invaluble when touring when you are parking your trusty bike numerous times every day. No always a convenient wall or tree when you want one!
