Sleeping bag or Sleeping bag liner

I always take a bag. Also there is special soap for down bags, wash in bath tub,and dry in dryer on low heat. Came out perfect!

Long distances between services on the Aragones

The stretch to ruesta is pretty dry. I drank out of the stock tank on the top of an endless uphill.

    Oloron-Sainte-Marie to Santiago

What about the the the Gite in Sarrance. Is it open all year?

    Food on the Primitivo

I walked the primitivo in 2017 at the age of 75. I enjoyed the walk and found it very doable. I walked the hospitals route and found it a disappointing slog. There was a fellow at the pass selling snacks and drinks. I had no food problems, anywhere. If I did it again(and I loved the trip) I would...

    Littoral path

Thanks; could you tell me where you stayed on the Vasco, and if there were any problems with accommodations or anything else?

    Littoral path

I want to do the vasco camino next year and would like to start in Biarritz. I would like to walk the littoral path but have seen various information about it. It is closed-it can be done by jumping the barricades-there is a new alternate path, slightly inland. You can see why I am confused. Does...

Starting the Camino from the end of Le Puy/ Arles

I walked from Lescar to Orolon Sainte-Marie, last fall and walked the Aragones to Logrono. The Arles in France is very pretty along the Aspe River. It becomes drier in Spain but was very nice walking to Puenta LA Reina. I walked in September and usually did not see anyone all day, until the...

    Aragones / Invierno advice, please

I agree.I flew to Pau and walked from Lescar. The walk from there was well worth it!

    Shorter walk. Sleeping bag?

I also take a sleeping bag now! I walked the primitivo with a silk liner and froze. Only one albergue had blankets(for rent).

    "normal" daily routine

Did you go into Leon,or go to LA Robla directly?

Combined Camino.... Norte - Lebananiego - Vadienese - Olivado - Salvador - Primitivo

It is easy from Boimorto to walk to Santiago and never see the frances.

    Any pilgrims in their 80s?

I suggest you start in Irun and walk the camino vasco, avoiding the hard day over the mountains. It is easy to get to as there is a train from Biarritz, and although it has some upside and downs it is prettier than the early frances, and meets the Frances quite early.

    San Salvador and Del Norte

I walked the primitivo in 2017 Aug 31,and took only a silk liner. I would get cold in the night and have to rummage around in the dark and put on clothes. Only the hostal in boimorto had blankets. My companions were snug and warm in their bags. I walked the Salvador in 2019 and took a bag. I...

    Combining Caminos

I walked the arles from Pau,then the Aragones to Estella, then a train to Leon and did the Salvador. In 2017 I walked the Primitivo then took the Camino Verde to Sabrados, then from Boimorto went west all the way into Santiago, avoiding the end of the Frances. I found it a wonderful alternate to...

    Stamps- missing a few days

To complicate things even more. In 2017,I walked from Lugo(100 km) past Friol to Sobrado, then Lavacola to Santiago, never meeting the Frances. Friol is the only stop on the 50km to Sobrado,so it is impossible to get 2 stamps either that day or the next day. You either stop in Friol or sleep under...

    Toilet paper, litter and graffiti

The French seem to have built nice restrooms along the Le Puy. Maybe such a thing could be done along the Frances.

Finisterre -it’s raining cats and dogs- should I just sleep in?

Could not have said it better

    Sleeping bag v liner

I walked the primitivo early September of 2017. I took a silk liner and found myself cold about 8 nights. I would wake up and fumble around putting on clothes. My fellow travelers seemed snug in their bags. Only one alberque had blankets for rent. In 2019,I walked the aragones and Salvador and...
