I've taken the Alsa bus from Santiago Bus Station to Porto Airport a few times. It takes 31/2hours (longer into Porto itself). I seem to remember that there are about 4 buses a day, but the schedule won't be available yet. It's easy to book and pay online and you get a ticket on your mobile.
Thank you High Endeavours. I'll have a look at the Village to Village guide. I'm not very tech savvy, but I see many people recommending GPS tracks, so will need to investigate this possibility too!
Thank you Elle. I'm definitely going to have to make sure that I improve my fitness levels in preparation then!
I will take a look at your website. Thanks for making it available.😊
I'm planning on walking from Florence to Assisi in the autumn. Did you use a guide book? I've walked different Caminos in Spain, including the Invierno, which was quite mountainous and tough going at times, so hopefully the Via de Francesco won't be more difficult?
Hi Jenny!! How lovely to see you on the forum. It was great seeing you in Santiago earlier this year. Kelly and I will be volunteering for 2 weeks, arriving on 22nd April and finishing on 5th May. What a shame our dates don't co-incide. I know both Kelly and I would love to see you again. Kelly...
I volunteered last year with Camino Companions, based in Room 6 of the Pilgrims office. We offer a welcome to English speaking pilgrims. There's tea/coffee available and a chance to get together with other pilgrims to share experiences. We also offer a one to one session for anyone who needs it...
I love my Pacerpoles. However, I've just completed the Camino Portuguese da Costa and used 'ordinary poles', which were fine, but not as good or comfortable as my Pacerpoles. If I were walking a longer Camino, I would check my Pacerpoles when flying to ensure that they weren't confiscated.
Of...
Sorry, but this wasn't our experience when we stayed there in 2021. The hospitalera was brusque, unwelcoming and dismissive. We thought that the treatment we received was because we were not Spanish, but a young Spanish couple we made friends with said that they'd received similar treatment. If...
Hi, I'm currently volunteering with an organisation called Camino Companions. We provide a welcome service for English speaking pilgrims arriving in Santiago. We have a room upstairs from where pilgrims can come to chat with other pilgrims, share their experiences, 'de-brief' and have...
Thanks Rob. We loved this Camino, but it was a toughie! Didn't stay in Soldon, but it looks great. We stopped at the little donativo stall and played with a little kitten whilst we rested and ate some fruit.
We walked the Invierno in March/April this year and I nervously kept an eye out for said dog, but, thankfully, no sign. There were quite a few snarky dogs, but they were chained up. We encountered a few loose dogs, but although some barked, none came after us or bit us. We tried to keep calm...
