Update: The images and attachemnets are now back, we are generating new thumbnails.... (this takes time with 20 years of photos). I know the notification icon gives an error. That error should be gone within an hour or two. Sorry again! Ivar

Ohhhhh that is a dangerous question! I just know that I'm not done yet - and yes I came home last time with a significant stress injury. Soon I am off again!
Planning your start day/date in St Jean to avoid a crush of pilgrims is worth trying for. Also note that many pilgrims start in Sarria - logically on the weekend. If you are crowd adverse, passing through Sarria during the week might be a good option for you.
Waaaay off topic. Maybe. My sister and I once had a donkey and his dog pal keep us company on the Sanabres. The dog took lead and would wait at each junction and make the turn ahead of us to show us the way. The donkey took the back position and would pretend he wasn't there when I turned to...
For reference I am nearly 70 and have gone on Camino every year for 7 years. Like others, I still haven't found the joy of a walking routine at home.
Mental fortitude is the part of physical training that (I believe) is overlooked. So lest you worry that I don't train, I do walk in preparation...
On my late fall Caminos I often hear hunters' guns on Sundays especially. Last fall this darling little dog ditched her hunting party and walked with me for about a half an hour. I'm not sure how this relates to the conversation but I thought I'd share my little "Daisy" with you.
Yes!!! - However, not answering phone or emails (and Gronze says closed), so was hoping for a real-time "I stayed there last night" kind of answer. Really appreciate everyone's input!!! Thank you!
Have you tried the Osprey Hiklite? The 18L might be just what you are looking for. There is a suspended mesh backpanel with a light wire frame. The belt might not look as substantial as you are thinking, but it would serve well since you are not carrying much weight. Nice range of colors, too!
The airline for my flights (late last fall) had a "travel ready" portion on the app. I filled out and uploaded anything that was required for my destination. It clearly outlined what was needed (after all my previous research and anxiety, lol) Coming home I uploaded a picture of my negative test...
It's a misconception that staying at places in between the usual stops will alleviate the problem of finding a bed. During one of my Caminos I had to adjust back to the usual stops as many pilgrims were following the in between strategy. Problem solved for me : )
You might also look online at Decathalon's Quechua MH500 pack. I just used it on a short 2 week Camino and found it to be very comfortable to wear and the features were convenient without being fussy. I pack extremely light and the 30L (2.6#) had all the room I needed. A 40L (2.8#) is also...
To answer your question about testing sites: I received this list about a week ago from the Santiago Tourist Office. Note that there is also a testing site at the airport.
I do not know the answer to your question about your flight to Madrid. My plan is to test in Santiago since I will fly on...
I travel from the US midwest. My usual flight plan starts 7am and arrive Madrid 9 am the next day. Then on to my starting point. Not sure why the emoji?
I personally prefer to just get started and let the rhythm of a camino day sort out the jet lag. After the anticipation of being on Camino, there's no place I'd rather be! Planning a reasonable first day is wise. For example, if I am starting from St. Jean, first night is Orrison. In November I...
I have walked Oct - Nov also, and have experienced all sorts of weather. Rain or shine - the weather only adds to my Camino experiences.
Rain is variable - rarely pouring, but usually some form of drizzly. As always layers layers layers. I use a lightweight rain jacket with a hood - but I...
