Just my two cents as someone who has studied the revival of the Camino, 2021 is going to be the busiest year for the Camino, by a wide wide margin, in several centuries. Also St James Day is the busiest day in Santiago even on a normal year. With all due respect to the seasoned pilgrims here...
In school we were taught the theory that there were three traditional stories:
Man vs. Man
Man vs. Nature
Man vs. Self
And some argued two new stories in modern times:
Man vs. Society
Man vs. Technology
I think many of these could come into play during your Camino!
Okay we will definitely meet because I will also be arriving at Roncesvalles on the 4th. Very exciting. As I posted elsewhere I am a very large American man with a very bright red backpack so I will be hard to miss lol
Wow a bunch of new post on this thread, it’s very exciting to hear from people that will be on the trail at the same time. I’ll be in Zubiri on the 5th so I’ll be right behind you. Hope we do meet up at some point. Buen Camino! (It’s coming up so fast!)
50 years ago I wasn’t born and even my parents were just small children at the time. I do remember Woodstock though, Nine Inch Nails played a killer set, though there was little peace love and harmony involved! 😂 #GenerationX
@Sarandipity You have a reservation, it’s based on that PayPal payment, Orisson doesn’t actually send you a confirmation email. I had a thread about this a few months ago cause I kept waiting on a confirmation too. I had the same wording and same concerns.
Hi Tom,
I will be a few days ahead of you, I leave SJPdP on Sept 3., but I plan to go fairly slow I am sure with our timing we will meet up at some point on the road. I hope you can talk when we do meet. My name is Steven, I’m a very large American with a bright red backpack 🎒 so I’d be hard...
Lmao, @Marla in CA you DO have a Camino family already cause I’ve been checking this thread everyday hoping to hear you got a spot at Orisson! I know what that stress was like, so glad for you. Buen Camino!
Hi Marla, I had trouble booking Orisson as well and it took me a couple weeks to figure it out. I think booking a few months in advance is the best bet, but obviously that doesn’t help you now.
On The Napoleon there is another Alburgue at Hunto which is a few kilometers BEFORE Orisson, so it...
Hi Guys, I’m starting 10 days behind you but I’ve only got 45 days to finish so at some point our paths will cross along the way. Hope we see each other somewhere along the road. Buen Camino!
Thank you so much for posting this. I’ve known personally that walking, especially long distance walking on trails, has helped relieve some symptoms of depression far more than the “endorphin rush” of exercise would explain. I’m glad to see cognitive research is exploring the how and why. I am...
I live in Upstate New York so I’m use to cold. Unlike Cali there is never any sun here except June-August. A lot of cold. I was hoping a fall Camino will be more moderate. I expect a lot of rain maybe in Galicia in October when I finish.
Hey Debra, I’m always excited to hear from someone that is starting around the same time. Here are my plans for the first week
Sept 2 SJPdP
Sept 3 Orisson
Sept 4 Roncevalles
Sept 5 ??? (Wherever my feet take me)
Sept 6 Pamplona
Sept 7 Pamplona
Sept 8 ??? (Wherever my feet take me)
After that...
Buen Camino Everyone. I’ve looked through the many previous treads in booking at Orisson and I can’t find the specific answer I’m looking for.
I went to the Orisson site, tried to prebook a bed for September 3rd. They sent the email with the PayPal link and I paid through PayPal, I received an...
Thanks Lua, I saw your post on the calander and was going to comment. I’ll be ten days ahead of you but we may meet before Santiago as I plan on going very slow so you might catch up to me by the end! I hope no matter what we both have great weather and the best of luck this September. Buen Camino!
Thank you. I appreciate hearing from someone that did the Camino at the same time and pace as I am doing it. I wondered about how hot or cool it will be in the fall. I guess I should expect more summer weather in early September. I am a cold weather person, I like it cool. I am from Upstate New...
Hello Everyone!
After 3 years of research, planning, saving, praying, and dreaming I finally booked my tickets to France this morning. I will be arriving in SJPDP on September 2, 2019. Plan to go very slow and end in mid October in Santiago (or maybe to the end of the world if I have time) I’m...
