Why would one not want to think about the Camino?
is it at all possible anyway to stop thinking about it, once you’ve walked it?
planning to walk the CF again in February 2024, wondering what it will be like at that time of year…..
John, you are one of a very select group of people who, being seriously ill, receive messages of love, concern and prayers sent from people quite literally all over this world, the vast majority of whom haven’t met you or each other and yet have read, followed and loved your guidebooks. That is...
A few days short of Santiago on the VdlP/Sanabres we were barked at by a large dog in a garden as we approached. He then stopped barking and disappeared behind the very thick high hedge. A few paces on he shot his head out of a hole in the hedge exactly as we reached it, barking like mad. Boy...
Dani, only found your narrative today and you are such a beautiful writer, drawing me in to your adventure with all its ups and downs, and that’s not just the hills and mountains. 🤣
I read your May 2 entry and then the reply box and my heart sank. 🫨 Oh No!You can’t stop now, Dani, you are doing...
So enjoying your posts, crhutch, and your comments and advice, peregrina2000. Thank you very much. It is great reading and picturing in my head and looking forward to seeing it all for real…
Two of us are dreaming, hoping, planning to walk the Invierno in September so there is huge added interest...
I stayed in Casa de mi Abuela in early May last year and the hospitalerio was really friendly, helpful and welcoming. He seemed to be running the albergue on his own, washing the floors when we arrived. He said he’d look after our backpacks and could we return in twenty minutes or so once the...
The friend with whom I walked my first Camino came from Orkney and her family gave her a shell from the beach there and one for me. We tied them to our backpacks with tartan ribbon which had presented itself to us out of the blue. We then caught the first of several trains to SJPP. we were...
your last full day of walking, (until you set off west again,)with this happy crowd of peregrinos walking along with you. Watch out for the lane when you suddenly see the towers of Santiago Cathedral for the first time….
will you spend a few days in Santiago and have a rest or are you walking on...
On the other hand: I was over on the Scottish mainland, I live in the Outer Hebrides, last week to give a Camino talk and decided to use my backpack instead of a suitcase and use it as part of a display of Camino things. I was taken by surprise by the joy I felt when putting the backpack on, not...
Buenos diás Karin.
very good to see the photograph of the embalse you looked down on from a grest height on 14th Feb. We walked that way at the end of May last year and it was much emptier. Whilst still not full it is somewhat reassuring to see the level has risen significantl.
Thank you so very...
Thank you so much for all of your posts, TrishK, so enjoyable and very helpful. Am hoping, dreaming, planning to walk this beautiful sounding Camino in 2023 with the same friend I walked the VdlP this year. Having read your account I’m impatient to start 🥾🥾🤸♂️🥾🥾
Ultreia!
Good morning, Elle,
yes, I felt the same on my first Camino and again on the second. However, as soon as you reach SJPP you will be gathered into the worldwide family of peregrinos. When I walked across to the Bayonne train station from my hotel to catch the first train to SJPP feeling very...
Hi there, how’s your recovery going? Sure hope it’s all plain sailing which will transmogrifiy into stately smooth walking on the Camino. With or without Puss-in-Boots 🤣
Ultreia!
Being a first timer walking the CF September 2018 and knowing nothing of this beautiful story I’m reading here, we almost walked past the stall. Yet there was something about the elderly lady who looked so kindly at us from her seat behind the table. We stopped and I bought a fridge magnet, one...
