    Donativos

Blimey that took a turn for the worse!🤔 It’s gone from me suggesting someone has a decent business model and long may it continue to being told I shouldn’t be on the Camino!😀 There were 8 Pilgrims all decked out in Osprey and Berghaus gear and it didn’t occur to me for one second that one of...

    Donativos

Gracias! I wouldn’t try it. I’d be no good at it! 😀 the hospitality industry isn’t for me. So are we saying that no donativos make a profit? I find that hard to believe.

    Donativos

I am happy thanks! It was lovely and as long as the owner makes a decent living out of it I’m happy for him too.👍

    Donativos

I’m not suggesting the owner was a millionaire 😀 he wasn’t serving up the toast in a Armani suit and a Rolex watch. I guess like any business- some people just aren’t cut out for it. If your keeping your takings in a cardboard box then maybe the jobs not for you!😔

    Donativos

I’m currently walking Del Norte which is wonderful! The weather is great along with the food, people and accommodation! I’ve stayed in a couple of donation Albergues which again have been decent, offering dinner, bed and breakfast for a donation. I got to thinking that the owners of these...

Has del Norte been crowded lately (April 2023)?

Hi Anniefish, I was wondering whether it would be busy as I start in Bilbao on Monday. Were there plenty of Albergues available when you walked or did you stay in private rooms? Thanks, Chris.

    Del Norte or Frances

Thanks @dbeatriceb The weather was another factor, I'm no too sure how reliable the long range forecast is but it looks pretty good in Bilbao from Sunday on wards so with that in mind I'm going to give the North a go. Can I ask, is the terain quite tough from Bilbao in terms of ups and downs...

    Del Norte or Frances

Morning All, I have flights booked to Bilbao this Sunday 16th April returning on 5th May. My plan was to get a bus to Burgos and walk to Leon - heading back to Bilbao and spend some time there with my other half. I have walked a few sections of the Camino Frances before and last time I...

    Back on the road again

In response to your observation re distance plaques - I did see these Way Markers on the Portuguese route in their natural habitat in 2018. Im glad you confirmed they have been put to use. I have been concerned they had been forgotten about. :)

    First day

Having done the Central route myself a few years ago I wanted to try a section of the Coastal while we were in Porto in November just gone. We got on a Metro to Matosinhos and walked back into Porto. Very pleasant walk it was too. No reason why you cant do it the other way round and walk out...

    Easter 2023

I 'm wondering how busy people think Easter will be on the Frances this year? I was hoping to have it walked and be back home by the 9th of April, but, due to circumstances out of my control, it looks like I could be on the section from Sarria to Santiago in the week leading up to Easter. I...

    Starting on 23/04/2023

Hi Peter, I'm planning on going from the North of England at the end of February. Having looked into it, the best way for me seems to be flying Manchester to Bordeaux, train to Bayonne then train to SJPDP. I've never done it before so will follow this thread with interest to see what the...

    November Pamplona to Burgos

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone has an idea of whether it will be difficult getting accommodation this year in November? I’m starting from Pamplona on the 1st November walking to Burgos. I understand some places close in November in normal times but do you think more places will be closed...
