For Aussies, wondering which credit/debit card/s to take on Camino

I’m going to use the Qantas money card to withdraw cash and a 28degrees credit card. Both are meant to have zero international conversation charges

    Women on the camino!

Yes, and I do still spot so my doctor has given me some additional medication which I’ll test before I leave. Worst case scenario I’ll but sanitary products along the way :)

    Women on the camino!

I’ll be on the pill and skip the sugar pill section so I hopefully don’t get a period at all on the Camino. Love the idea of the cup for environmental reasons, but it doesn’t work for me.

    Passports/Money

I’m leaving SJPP on May 7! Was planning to keep everything in a bumbag, but these posts have given me something to think about. Already had one phone stolen in Spain

    Coffee in Spain

I just wish the leche wasn’t UHT :)

May - sleeping bag or Liner

I’m also leaving on the 6th of May and will take my less than 400g sleeping bag because like peregrina2000 I’m a “friolera” :)

How many stamps are required to receive a certificate of completion Compostela?

I like stamps :) If I happen to fill my passport somewhere along the Camino Frances are there places where I can get a second one, or should I get it before I leave?

Excited for my first Camino in May

Buen camino to you too, Robo. I’m not planning on walking too fast and I’m lucky not to have a deadline. I may not catch you, but will keep a lookout for you :)

Excited for my first Camino in May

Hi David, would love to hear about some of the walks around Melbourne you’ve been doing. I live in East Brunswick so have been walking up and down the Merri Creek trail. I’ll be sure to listen to your podcast. Buen camino to you both!

Excited for my first Camino in May

Hi Carol and Lou, I also have an Aarn backpack but without front pockets. Tried it out on a 10km walk carrying 4 kg and hardly felt a thing, love it! I’ll look out for you and your green packs, although I’m not an overly fast walker. Maybe our paths will cross though :)

Hi, Thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum - it's a wealth of knowledge, inspiring and entertaining :) I'm Nichola from Melbourne, Australia. I'll be setting off from Saint Jean Pied de Port on 6 May 2018 with the intention of walking the entire Camino Frances. Can't wait! I love...

    Graffiti...but with a message

Others may disagree, but if the message and/or artwork is nice, I don’t mind a bit of graffiti and will take a photo of it

    Hair

As someone with pale skin I’ll be keeping my hair at least shoulder length to provide extra protection to the back of my neck when combined with my hat

A decade later; then and now

Oh, I hadn’t thought about this. Doing my Camino on my own and hoping for some socialising in the evenings, which will be difficult if everyone’s head is buried in a phone. Will have to seek out the luddites ;)

    Drying clothes while walking

Great idea! Was planning to take my laundry bag for clothes washing but now it can have the extra job of drying clothes whilst hanging from my backpack. This will certainly justify its presence in my gear

    Camino Francés in May 2018!

I’m 43 but rarely think about my or others’ ages. I’ll certainly be pacing myself, especially for the first few days. I’m booked into Orisson too. Looking forward to meeting some of you along the Way :)
