I rode my Moutain bike with panniers on the entire walking route .. this stretch into Molinesca was very technical and strenuous.
Seal on my front fort suspension took a hammering
I have done the French Way by bike and now the Norte by foot.
Firstly.. like the song... “let it be...”
As cyclist the most dangerous is a walking Pilgrim with earphones... not hearing the bell ... and inevitably jumping right in front of the bike ...( also walking two or three abreast...
Wow, some really great information here.
Just a question, nobody mentioned a taxi or Uber ?
We are two people traveling into Paris
Seems that two bus tickets are equal to an UberX into the city ??
Less stress and maybe even our own “tour guide”
Any opinion on this option?
Any specific platform...
On the LePuy Route ..we followed the “bike guide route “
Large portions of the Route is not rideable with panniers, even E-Bikes ... thinking around Conques
(Keep in mind, as far as I know airline don’t allow the batteries for e-bikes )
E-bike is also much heavier to push 😥
I agree with this plan... in 2016 we bought bikes from sporting goods store in Le Puy ... and after about 900km sold then to a volunteer at the Pilgrim office in SJPDP for 30% of what we paid
Win -Win
We preordered and on arrival bikes where waiting, panniers and all
Buen Camino
So many of your thoughts resonate.... . the journey.. much more than the destination... Francés was all about SJPDP to Cruze de Ferro... thereafter the two special nights in Finisterre...
Le Puy Route was wonderful .. but summer of 2019 ... it’s The Norte ...
planning the kit, clothes and...
Hi, i booked this flight with Vueling from Santiago to Paris .. just some questions:
1) did you pay extra for your pack, even if it was less the 10Kg?
2)are they fairly reliable as i have a connecting flight from CDG 2hours 20min later
Hi there,
I am starting from Irún on 11June 2019, leaving from Paris.
I want to take a train rather than fly ( Biarritz or Bilbao)
Which services did you make use of and approximate cost ?
Hi Michelle,
I am trying to get some info on cycling the Del Norte.
I did Francés June this year and want to go on another adventure in 2019
I would like to know if a MTB can be riden on the entire walking route ?
Regards
Martin
Hi,
I just dit CF on Mountain Bike all the way to Finisterre.
If you are walking the CF ( +-35days) ... rather take the Bus ( 9.90€ ) to Finisterre instead and spend the extra day or two there reflecting/ recovering
Then, on return go via Muxía with a 20min stop at the point / Cathedral en...
hi there, i am planning to leaving Biarritz via SJPDP and stayng in Refuge Orisson (25 June) - biking...

Hi Sol, can you please share the Bus Share company Contact details ?
I am flying into Biarritz on 24June. I was planning on taking my bike on the train ( €10) to SJPDP.

Starting the CF in late June on Mountain Bike I am bringing from South Africa
Did the Via Podiensis on Tour Bike, traveling on the road / cycle route.
What are your options on the del Norte, are you riding on the “walkers route”?
And what kind of bike /...
I am also starting in SJPDP in June, but on the 26th. Traveling by Mountain Bike .. to be returning to South Africa on 13 July. Really enjoining the planning phase.
We followed the route in “a Cyclists guide” by John Higginson” which was more than 90% good road surface / tar.
Bike was n tourer model and my travel companion was fit but not a regular cyclist.
On the French Route adventure (June 2018) we are accomplished mountain bikers. But because we want...
