We are flying into Madrid for our Meseta walk next week. It sounds like the bus is the best way to get to Burgos. My question is should we make reservations or can we count on getting 2 seats on whichever bus is at the best time depending on flight issues, etc? Can’t wait to be walking again...
Just found out that I can't get a podiatrist appointment before we leave for a part of the CF this fall (October). When we walked from SJPdP to SDC last summer I had pretty significant heel pain after the first couple of hours walking each day. I have flat feet and over-pronate. I've been...
Can anyone point me in the right direction for getting information about visiting the Las Huelgas Monastery outside of Burgos? When we were there last year there was a huge festival, which was fun, but I'd really like to be able to go inside and, if possible, view a music manuscript (Las Huelgas...
Greetings,
My wife and I prefer to stay in private rooms so in the past have mostly stayed in hotels, pensions, casa rurales, etc. But I like the feeling and camaraderie of albergues. Is there a guide, website or app (like booking.com) that would allow for a search of albergues with private...
Greetings! My wife and I walked the CF from SJPdP to Finesterre last summer except we rented bikes from Burgos to Leon. Now we want to go back and walk that part. What's the weather like in October on the Meseta? Alternatively, how hot might it get in August?
We're thinking of walking the Norte...
I know this has been discussed a lot and after reading posts and speaking with people who have done it we are leaning in the direction of Invierno. It sounds wonderful and perhaps quite. Of course, we won't decide when we get close to Ponferrada. My question is what will we miss on the Frances...
Hello,
We are flying into Paris on 23 May and thought we would take the train to Biarritz for a de-jet lag day and then onto SJPdP. Because of the train strike we are wondering if we should fly instead. What do you think? And if you think flying is a good idea can you recommend an airline? Easy...
Our travel plans at the moment have us starting out from SJPdP on a Friday in May and walking to Roncesvalles. I've heard that it can get pretty crowded on/near weekends. How much of a madhouse will Rocesvalles be? Should we consider starting a day earlier? Thanks.
We are planning to spend our first night after flying into Paris in either Biarritz or Bayonne before heading on to SJPdP. Opinions as to which? Will be about May 23. Thanks!
It seems the majority of opinions on footgear leans towards using trail runners and that seems good to me. Several shoe store people have voiced concern that one pair might not hold up for the 800km+ walk. Any thoughts about this?
Also I just discovered "Cloudventure Midtops" made by the Swiss...
My wife is extremely lactose intolerant but lactase enzyme pills (Lactaid brand name in US) do the trick for her. Do farmacias along the Camino sell them? We are going in mid-May. Can't wait. Thanks.
